Google Plus Some Reflections On Affiliate Links
" You are missing out REAL Big! If you are not making 1- 5k daily with this Awesome and SUPER SIMPLE Income Program"
Some communities in Google Plus are awash with such offers, it almost feels like the floodgates may be open, but yet many folks get caught out when Google plus taps them on the shoulder for posting raw affiliate links.
What,
I don't want to cause any dissension and mean no offense but just used this as an example.
The post had associated hashtags and used Bitly to shorten the URL, flew through under the radar.
Here in lies the paradox of google plus, post a raw link and you will get smashed every time, cloak or shorten a link and you will fly through it seems.
What is the difference?
Business.
If you look at Google as being the gatekeeper to the internet, then they have an obligation on many fronts in order to keep everything ship shape. One of their main goals and missions is to provide users with the best possible experience in that when we ask we get the most relevant answers to our queries.
Google is a business, it has an obligation to its stakeholders, one of its revenue sources is through selling advertising, so if folks just post affiliate links, then the logic is that they are losing revenue IMO, I may be wrong? In order to protect their interests they come down hard on any incursions, with a zero tolerance policy.
So from observation, there is this standoff between acceptance and denial, almost a balance. If we truck along and pay there are relatively few issues unless that is we are promoting certain things that breach the terms of their ads policies,
In math there are formulas and even if in some quarters folks want to question the relative nature of certain formulas, for the foreseeable future,
2+3 will always equal 5
so following the math.
Raw affiliate links posted on Google plus = Sadness.
A post on Google Plus linked to a website, with affiliate links embedded = happiness.
It can seem unfair and almost illogical but that is the way it is.
It can always pay to work away building a big picture, every time we go online Google is building a picture of us, that is the way it is, we in turn should be building our picture of Google and that is the way it should be.
Google actually gives us so much and relatively asks so little in return, only that we play by the rules.
There is that old saying " if we know the rules we can play the game and play to the best our abilities".
One of the things to remember is that we do have control when was the last time you paid a visit to your settings in google plus?
https://plus.google.com/settings
Just work through the list, sometimes it can be little things and tweaks that can help to build how we engage.
Little things can make a difference in the overall picture.
So stay safe out there, play by the rules and you will always win. Just posted this in response to some folks asking the," why did I get " question.

thank you for that information Alex, have not really looked under the hood on my google + account but will check it out...thanks for the update
Hi Gus, it is something that can be easy to overlook, the same goes for all platforms, they usually have a lot of user-friendly information and also the ability to manage our engagement.
You are most welcome.
Thanks Alex. I think that so much comes back to common sense. I always assumed places like Google+ would not like links spread throughout your posts. I have always just used just the one website link. Jim
Spot on Jim, right on the money, and as you say it can come down to using some discretion. Sometimes starting out our enthusiasm can catch folks out.

Thanks for this Alex. I'd never checked settings in Google Plus since opening the account years ago. I found by reading your post that I needed to make an adjustment.
Hi, Valerie, glad that you found some value in this post, account settings can hold some real value for us, both in what we choose to share or not and also how we manage the content that we do share.
