Google indexation - is it worth the chase?

Just a few days ago when my practice website was indexed - thesmartearner.siterubix.com, WA added a new feather to my cap, that is, I had a badge from WA for that!

Without knowing fully well what that meant, I congratulated myself.

But now I know better. Should I celebrate myself, perhaps widely this time around?

Well, before you tell me whether to celebrate or not, let me tell you what I now know about indexing.

Please be warned: my explanation could be very basic, after all, it's mostly for newbies like me in WA. However, the 'big guys' can help me get a better understanding of what it is.

WHAT'S A WEB INDEX?

Before the internet, we've always had alphabetical indexes toward the end of our hand-cover books. That is to mean those books had a database which we can turn to to get the exact location of any information we want in the book.

Is the internet any different? I would say it follows almost the same pattern!

Want to know how? Then, just keep reading.

A web index is simply a database of information on the Internet.

To illustrate this, a web index is like a very big house where beautiful and useful presents are stored. In this case, the 'beautiful and useful presents' are the information gathered from hundreds of billions of web pages - including title tags, alt attributes for images and meta tag.

Did you want to ask who brings in the presents? Relax, I got you covered!

WHO BRINGS THE PRESENTS IN?

Have you ever heard of the words - Bots, Spiders, Crawlers? If you haven't, these are the tireless workers who scour the web, 247, to get useful and relevant content that would make for a good user experience. Whatever content they find very relevant, they move to the 'big house' and have them stored there.

This becomes the "searchable index." So, whenever a user makes a search using a search engine, it's from this searchable index that we find the results in the "Search Engine Result Pages (SERP)."

WHY INDEX YOUR SITE?

Before we answer the obvious, let me ask? Did you know that 51% of all trackable website traffic comes from organic search?

So the work the "Bots" or "Spiders" does is responsible for 51% of the free information you get from search engines! Wow, that's huge!

If you ever want to achieve success online, you need people to see what you have to offer. In other words, you need TRAFFIC! A sizable chunk of it! Enough to meet your online goals.

But the funny thing is, if your website is not indexed, you're never going to pop up in the search result where the people are supposed to find your website. Simply put,

No Web Index, No Traffic!

I guess you don't ever want to be found in a "no man's land." Do you?

So endeavour to make this a priority in your goal to build an online business.

Please take note: you don’t want your site to be indexed just once. You want the search engines to keep re-indexing your site so that you can achieve a higher search result rankings.

DOES IT MATTER WHERE MY SITE IS INDEXED?

Yes, it does! It's true all the major search engines - Google, Yahoo, Bing - have their different searchable indexes. But most marketers focus on Google because it's the world’s largest search engine. Many internet users see it as the go-to search engine for answers to whatever concerns they have.

To tell you the truth, in most cases, I'd rather agree with the quote: "If you can't beat them, join them."

If you're new to the online world like I am, I'll advise you join the 'Bandwagon,' until you're are strong enough to be on your own and take tough decisions without fear.

Finally, back to my earlier question. Now that my site has been indexed by Google, should I celebrate it or ignore it until another time?

I'm looking forward to your response.

P.S: Please, tell no one I'm already celebrating! Lol.

Great achievement. Congratulations!

Every page and post of your site that gets indexed calls for a celebration.

Thanks

Yes definitely celebrate your achievements big or small...:)

To your question should you celebrate...Absolutely big or little if we celebrate our successes even the little ones...it hells with our mindset and pushes us toward more small successes.
Because we need to celebrate the small successes to get too the bigger ones☺

That's very true. I'm really getting confident thee days.

Thanks, Cav1966.

Do you mean “modernization” or were you meaning to say moderation?

Modernization
theory is used to explain the process of modernization within societies.

Moderation
the avoidance of excess or extremes, especially in one's behavior or political opinions.

I personally believe too many adds, annoy people, Modernization is key to our survival, Is the ad content related? If not I would not place it on my home page.

What ads are you asking about here? I don't see anything in his post about ads...

Thank You

Is it better to have no adds on your main website page to get ranked quicker in google or does it matter?

Yes, it is better to have no affiliate links until your first product review, which is as you understood correctly to get indexed and ranked first. Also, the search engines do not like too many affiliate links in posts.

if your site isn't indexed it means that no search engine can see it and then when people want to find a site in Google it won't show. Theoretically if it's index by one it will be indexed by the more. Index only means that it can be seen later on you need to pad out the content with quality content so that it can get ranked. The rank is which page it appears on.

Ideally you want as much as your website on page 1 as you can so it shows up for people to click on it. Hope this makes sense if not feel free to ask another question

Hello, I just saw your response. I have a question. So when you say put as much of your website on page one, is it best than to have maybe only one add or no adds and will having less adds and more your website help you get ranked quicker?

Hello everyone! Who is using blocks and who knows how to add the site rubix plug in? I do not see the choice for text tab or visual tab

with the block editor you don't get the text and visual tabs - you build the page as you go.
to revert back to the old editor install the classic editor plugin on your site.
then goto settings - writing in your wordpress dashboard and allow users to change or set it to classic.
good luck
phil

Thank you for responding. So there is no way to add Site Rubix on the block page? Is it better to use classic editir plug in?
So I understand, if I go to classic and add there, there is a place I can add allow users to change than I can go back to block editing?

i don't understand adding siterubix - you can add a classic block - but you cannot add images into here.
sitecontent will be added to a classic block or into the classic editor.
you can convert the classic block to blocks in the block editor.
under settings => writing in your wordpress dashboard you can enble user to change editors.
what are you trying to do?
