For my site I'm doing reviews that consist of drawings.
I don't want it to be boring, so I'd like to include drawings of known characters, such as pokemo
Great Question, Lilla - Aida. It is a bit tricky online nowadays with all the copyright laws and people trying to find any excuse to sue... I don't have an answer but I am certain someone here at WA will give you an answer. I would also just check with your legal advisor just to hear it from the horse's mouth...
Hi - this is what I found:
Any commercial use of a copyrighted cartoon character without permission of the copyright holder is a violation of law. This includes the sale of any drawings or art works, either by themselves or in some other form such as on a T-shirt, team logo, advertisement, billboard, or promotional design.
In addition, many forms of non-commercial public use, such as the posting of a copyrighted cartoon or image on a website, also represents a violation of copyright, as well as the holder's legal right to control how his original work is used.
Hi,
thank you for your answer.
Well, I know about that, I can find only one excuse: the drawing itself is not for commercial use. I won't sale the drawing. Actually, I'm not selling anything personally. That's why I think I may be able to do it without violating the law.
Original thinking about using your own Talents is an Entrepeners Secret Weapon, so I like your thinking!
Even Smarter is realizing you have to be careful about copyrighted material! 😃
The answer to your actual question I don't know as I am not an artist and never tried to Draw and use a figure such as you wish to do.
I am certain another WA member will answer your Question?
God Bless and Good Luck!
Janice🤗🌷
Thank you Janice, your words really made my day :)
I hope to get a few answers with the same opinion so that I can make it sure which option it is.
Thank you for your kindness and have a good day :D

Can I include drawings of specific characters on my site?

Hi Aida, seems like Diane has given you a conclusive answer. Thing is if you are drawing the pictures yourself, I do not understand how that can be an infringement of any copyright laws. Personally, I do not see you going against any laws. However it is always better to be safe than sorry. Perhaps shooting Kyle the question would be a good idea
All the best
Michael
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your answer.
I think the same, but maybe I really should ask Kyle.
Best wishes,
Aida
