The Holy Grail
He who hath peeled away the layers of thee mysteries of thy Lord Google's most holy algorithm shalt surely receive an endless bounty of wondrous rewards.
I was alway pretty good at basic math, Dollars and cents. Pounds and ounces, Feet and inches, Stuff like that. A lot of it I can do quickly in my head, No calculator or pen and paper required.
But from my first algebra class I had no idea of the meaning of any of it, What the hell does this mean anywayI
I barely managed to get a passing grade in Algebra One. The second time around. Any higher math than that might as well be in Klingon.
And yet, i think I have a grasp of what an algorithm is. I used to watch a TV series called Numbers. A math grad of MIT who is a professor at Cal Tech helps his FBI agent brother catch bad guys by writing algorithms that predict where they will strike next. I couldn't explain it to you in mathmatical terms but what it comes down to is a predictive formula that triggers actions based on which of the subset of actions takes place.
Here is a very simple chart.
In column one if either action A or action B takes place it signals the upline module, which passes the information up to the main module. The mail module will trigger an action base not only on that information but also in concert with what action has taken place in it's own downline of modules, Modules A, B, and C. Of course the actions of A or B influences how the main module will interpret the actions of Modules B and C.
Got it? Now go out and dominate Google and reap thy most bountiful and endless rewards.
Of course Google's is a few gazillion lines of code and is incredibly complex. Now, Google has developed and AI program called RankBrain that adjusts the algorithm on the fly to make searches more relevant. Will that help us or hurt us? I don't know or have any way of knowing.
Figure this one out Math Nerds, It;s simple as a cave man's club compared to Google's.

Great post can’t help you here I failed in high school but I pulled a a- in college don’t no how but I did the instructor said she didn’t no how I got my answers but they were right
Ok you got me on that one. hahaha
I almost failed Algebra in high school and did fail it twice in college. I need to visualize and Algebra doesn't do that for me although I was told when you get into physics there is a lot more visualization and the math is just the language to translate that for people to understand. ::: whew ::: Maybe in another lifetime I'll learn it just to learn it. :-)

lol. Yes how do we work out the algorithm. It now a predictor of future behaviour with buyers intent. So I try to factor in that issue as well. Thanks for the blog.
