You Have 1 Minute before I go.

You have one minute before I go and you will not see me again.

In 1 minute you can read between 200 to 400 words.

You can close your browser tabs.

You can trim your toenails.

You can floss your teeth. ( Please wash your hands first)

That 1 minute, according to Google and others (I will show you soon) is the average amount of time you have to get your message across. And yes there is more involved if you take into account average time on page vs average session duration......But I've been fixing an old post and my brain is fried...so let us keep it simple.

According to Google Analytics, time on a page is the “average amount of time users spent viewing a specific page or screen, or set of pages or screens.”

For most sites, this is the amount of time a visitor spends reading the content on a single page. This number is calculated from the moment they land on a page until they click to go to the next one.
Unfortunately, Google can only measure the vagaries of moving from page to page on one site only. So if someone lands on your site and then leaves without advancing, Google won’t measure that time. So, it ain't perfect...but most are saying the average site has about 62 seconds to get their message across and get your readers to make some decision within that time frame. How much time do you have, The site I am using for this exercise has 64 seconds, not good at all.

How do you get your message across in one minute?

what tools do you use?

if you are writing a 1500-word post ( My average these days) are you putting in a link or some type of CTA within the first 400 words.?

And if you are trying to increase the readers average time on the page is there anything working really well for you.?

P.S.I have done 3 blogs in quick succession on my WA blogs and you may be wondering what....Simply, I tend to write these blogs to capture my thoughts and possibly use them at a later date to expand on...

Sorry, I don't have any strawberries...but found a few of these hanging off the vine. Help yourselves.

Good morning Stephen,

I hope you're doing well. You for your interesting and informative blog post, it's appreciated.

It's amazing how quick we can flick through pages, I guess we all do it. However, I must admit that I enjoy reading, so I may spend more time than the average person on a page.

Having said that, up to 400 words in one minute can be quite a bit of information. I appreciate your interesting facts. You definitely got more than one minute out of me!

Have a great day.

Roy

Hi zoop.
Nice to hear from you again.

Very interesting topic.

First and foremost in my opinion is to have links that support your interest open on a new page.

A table of contents on your original page is very important (again, in my opinion).

There is code that is available to all of us to create a "Table" without using a plugin.

WA will not allow me to publish that simple code here.

For those of us that have been here for many years, we are doing well.

We use the education granted to us on this platform and improve the same as it fits our use.

Keep going.
We are heading in the right direction.

Peace, love, and, light always.

I like practicing on blogging or posting here, and heck ya I will take now and one for the road. Hhahaha.

Laters Gators.

In truth, that is about the amount of time I spend on a page, and I desist those darn pop ups. Gotta click out of the continue. However doing research I have gotten better at getting to my aim much faster and long tail keywords are the key to getting there faster. Trick is trying to get a grip on the wording sometimes.

See ya next adventure,

Hi, Stephen

Great post!

My Google time on a page data is variable, like yours. It ranges from less than 1 minute to greater than 12 minutes, depending on the article. Sometimes the time on page correlates with how old the article is and if there is a video.

I don't worry about it. The best thing to do is keep writing quality posts and monitor the data in GA and GSC to look for helpful info and trends.

Love the beer selection! 😎
