Time for Weeding my Websites.
Less is More
I always found this a hard statement to comprehend. As far as I am concerned more is more and less is less. It had me thinking this was a phrase made up by politicians who tried to convince us poor peasants that opening our pay packets to less money is actually giving us more in the 'scheme of things" Like..."The more tax you pay, the better the social services"...lol. But this post is not about the inadequacies of our elected rabble.
It is about streamlining our websites for a better user experience (UX). A few nights ago, I had another sleepless night. Insomnia is a great productivity booster. And as I was wiling away the midnight (and later) hours I sat down and looked at my websites through the eyes of my readers.
A few things came to mind almost instantly; the mix of products and services seemed to be never-ending. And as much as I often put out posts for informational reasons only, when I did offer a product or service it felt as if I had just thrown the product in,even if i gave a full description and comparisons to other products.
And a lot of my core products were mentioned a few times (In past posts) but were not updated or mentioned again. I have decided to delete some of my (what I call) third-tier products and go back and update and repost old blogs as well as add completely new articles about them.
Rather than trying to sell 150-200 products , I am going to limit the amount of product on offer and at the same time i will reduce the number of affiliate programs I am with.
Informative vs Commercial Content
The below is what Google says about the ratio of informative to commercial posts. But that is not what I am talking about.
The ideal ratio of informational content to commercial content for a new website is 80/20, or 70/30. This means that 80-70% of the website's content should be informative, educational, or helpful to the audience, while 20-30% can be focused on promoting products or services.
I am talking about the total range of products per website. I am going to limit my total range. For example on my lazy athletes site I may just offer 50 products, but even with each of these products you will probably have 3 or 4 different model.
Does this sound like a good idea, have you done or would you do something similar.
And if you agree, what number of products would you promote.

The concept of less is more brings to the forefront of selling... If you give away too much, info, there is no need to find out more.
The sense of urgency is a great example of less is more.
Offering a sampling rather than the entire thing. You want to engage, and when people are interested, they will enquire to learn more.
Plus, weeding is a good thing.. lol. When I am looking for a tool and conduct a search, I end up bookmarking more than I could use at one time,. Of course, I don't always remember WHY I bookmarked it, or even WHERE I saved it, lol, so weeding the website is a great idea!

I think quality is the answer because if you can find a hot item, not only do you get the sale on it, but cookies take over (depending on the site), and you collect on anything else they buy. The thing is to get them there first.
Interesting take Stevoi! Personally I prefer to offer just a few quality products rather than hundreds or thousands even which I know little about!!
Just my opinion here buddy and enjoy a wonderful weekend ok!!
👍🍻👍🍻
That’s what I was saying, quality not quantity.
Maybe I didn’t write clear enough. Ahhh well
