Fake ChatGPT downloads stuffing up Facebook
Be careful when you are downloading ChatGPT. A malware copy of ChatGPT has been found. It is an extension that steals Facebook session cookies. This allows hackers to gain access to your Facebook account and lock you out.
The hackers log into your account and change the account details to a false identity. These accounts are then used to spread malicious advertising and extreme propaganda.
Most people who have downloaded this have done it via a sponsored advert for ChatGPT 4. Supposedly this was downloaded from the chrome web store between February 14th and March 22nd. So if you have downloaded it during this time you might want to check it.
To check it, click on the puzzle piece icon to the right of the chrome address bar, then click manage extensions. Next click on the details button and view in the Chrome web store. The real one shows “chatgpt4google.com” as the developer with over 1 million users. Anything else is fake.
I guess this will continue to happen over time, so check your downloads before you install it.

Thanks for the warning. I have not noticed anything. I have an account with Facebook, but I have only used it a little since my husband passed away six years ago. I found Facebook to be so boring. I only go there when my family texts me that there are some photos there. I will look briefly and then log out.
