Wishing everyone a Happy Lunar New Year from Vietnam 🇻🇳
A bit of Vietnamese music to see out the old year and in the New Year. We are in the midst of celebration in Vietnam and we are waiting for midnight, when we will go to the local pagoda to give offerings to Ancestors and Buddhist deities.

7. Làm ăn tấn tới — Be successful at work
8. Năm mới, thắng lợi mới — New year, new triumphs
9. Năm mới dồi dào sức khỏe — I wish you a healthy new year
10. Năm mới tấn tài tấn lộc — I wish you a wealthy new year
11. Năm mới thăng quan tiến chức — I wish that you will get promoted in the new year
12. Năm mới toàn gia bình an — I wish that the new year will bring health and peace to your family
At this time of year the focus is on family. Also how we start the year is how we carry on…very similar to Cassi of Troys post about how we should finish like we start, 💪,strong. Yes, that’s my arm.

Yeh, this year I’m going to do one in our suburb. The local pagoda, the closed shops empty streets etc so you can see the difference between the city and suburbs.

We went to Oakland Chinatown yesterday to a street fair that had some great bargains. Of course, we bought live bamboo stocks too. Asian people really do a great job in celebrating this time of year, and starting it off in a positive way is vital, in our home. Going to Temple tomorrow.
It's a very special time for us every year. Loved the music, too.
We are cleaning indoors today and outside tomorrow all the while eating more food than possible.

Thanks, sounds like you had a great day too. The family focus is something that took me time to get my head around as it doesn’t happen to that degree in the west.
However now it’s 2nd nature and I have my extended family living with me now, and often have several people staying. Especially through Tet, and love it.
It helps to have a big house though. We have a 3 story villa with 7 bedrooms and a bathroom on every floor as well as an en-suite in our bedroom. There are some things I need private..lol.

Yes it took some getting used to people dropping by unannounced, calling as late as 11pm, family loans$$$ etc. But I am very happy. Sounds like you have a mansion there, must be nice.
Things here are so expensive. But, for now it's home and we are happy. The family values are something lacking in the west. There was a time.
Filiality is practiced regularly. It is a different culture for sure. Happy New Year.
