A Trick To Improve Your Email Subscriber Rate

As part of our training over the past week we were introduced to the concept of having an email subscriber on our websites.

As our training progresses we are being introduced to features that can accelerate and automate traffic generation to our websites.

One of those features is an email subscriber plugin. In this post I'd like to shed some light on what an email subscriber plugin actually is, and how to use it effectively in order to improve your email subscriber rate.

So What Is An Email Subscriber Plugin

An email subscriber is a plugin that is designed to allow your website visitor to sign up in order to receive email notification each time a new post is published on your website.

Its function is to automate the process of allowing you to notify your regular visitors when you have posted new content on your website.

As your subscriber base increases so will your targeted traffic, as those who subscribe are clearly interested in receiving more content from you. This is what the plugin looks like when it is installed and activated on your word press site.

The specific email subscriber plugin that we were introduced to is a free plugin that is available through wordpress as shown below. You find the plugin on your wordpress dashboard under plugins by clicking on add new. You will then search for it by typing email subscriber as shown below.

Once installed you need to activate the plugin after which you will be able to find it in your available widgets. In some wordpress themes, this plugin comes position installed.

All you need to do in order to make use of it is to find it under your available widgets. You then drag and drop it onto your side bar at the position where you want it placed as shown below. I prefer mine to be right at the top on my side bar so my visitor will not miss it.

Using The Email Subscriber Effectively

Once the plugin is installed you may edit how you want it to appear on your website by going on your widgets and then click on the drop down icon of the email subscriber widget as seen below.

You will then have options to change the text of the title as it will be displayed on your website, the short description and whether or not the name field should be displayed. When you're happy with the changes click save.

The changes will appear on your website as per the screenshot on your right

A Trick To Improve Your Subscriber Rate

Once the plugin is installed and activated your visitors should begin subscribing to your website.

However, you may notice that their subscriptions will remain unconfirmed until they confirm by responding through the automated email that they receive when they sign up that they actually do want to receive email notifications from you.

This is called double opt in and is the default setting of the plugin. This may slow down your subscriber rate considerably as some of your visitors may subscribe but just be too lazy to confirm the subscription via email.

My suggestion is that you change the default setting to single opt in. You access the settings by clicking on the email subscriber tab and then click on settings. Under the opt in type drop down tab select single opt in and save as shown below.

This way your subscribers will not receive an email instructing them to confirm their subscription but will be immediately added to your email subscriber list.

You could also confirm the subscriber manually by clicking on subscribers but that just defeats the purpose of having an email subscriber in my view.

As you can see we are learning and growing in leaps and bounds in our mentorship group only available through this amazing platform called Wealthy Affiliate.

I certainly hope you have found this post to be useful to you on your journey to build a successful online business.

looks a bit like an autoresponder!

Hi Micheal. Actually an autoresponder is a far more complex list building tool.

The email subscriber plug in just automates the process of notifying your website visitors who have subscribed to receive notification when new content is published on your site. That's it.

It will not publish the actual content on the email, which is what an autoresponder will do, but just notify the subscriber that content has been published and direct the subscriber to the post or page.

Zola

Zola,

Thanks for letting us know about the plugin. It was great advice as my theme did not have that widget to add, so the plugin was my only option.

It was very helpful information.

Lisa

Hi Lisa. I'm glad I could be of help.

So what happens when visitors subscribe? Where is the list stored and what you do with it? Thank you.

Hi Jovo.

The plug in stores the information on your wordpress backend which you are able to see by clicking on the subscriber button under the Email Subscriber tab on your wordpress dashboard.

Hope that answers your question.

Zola

Sure, thank you again.

Hi Zola,

Great, I was looking into an email subscriber but don't know which one to use. How is this one working for you?

I have the ultimate social media plugin activated however is is slowing my site speed. Does the Email subscriber & newsletter slow down your site speed as well?

I only have 4 plug-ins downloaded activated. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Kelyee. The email subscriber and newsletter plugin is a very basic plugin and serves its intents and purpose very well. It does not slow down my site speed at all.

Have you activated the sitespeed under the siteplus feature on your site manager? This should help with the speed.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Zola

Yes, I did it on my slowed down after I downloaded the ultimate social media plugin. It was fine before that. :D
