Hi - not sure about building business websites or anything yet - but professionally, my biggest successes if you can call them that, are in listening to people, and empathising with them - and trying to help them. That builds respect and relationships and trust.
Sorry if I'm way off the mark of what you're asking.

Building Relationships, Respect, and trust is espescially important in all aspects of business. Understanding your customers needs is vital. Without that, customers can become irritated. Thats a great tip, ty
Word of mouth, do networking, advertising in local news paper, and having a website these are only few of what I'm doing to promote my business offline.
Word of mouth, I def agree with. Recommendations from others to others, is a Great tool and its' FREE. I use that in business too. Sometimes, depending on the type of business you have, asking for referrals to others can help too. Advertising in papers and Using a website are great ideas too. Thanks for the feedback and much success to you in your ventures too.

This is going to sound obsequious, but I've learnt a lot about SEO from this place which now has me on page one of Google.
I also have a structured network of websites focused to drive business to my main website, so I'm acting as my own affiliate, again, picked up and adapted from the lessons here.
In a lifetime spent in managerial or directorial roles my most important lesson was to admit to, and apologise for, every screw up. I also learnt to spot tyre-kickers and other time wasters, and never to be afraid to sack a client if they become a drain on resources.
I also value my work to the point that if I EVER discount, it's on the basis of a genuine charitable mood I'm in, and not to win business.
Wow, Congrats on all your success with Google and in your Business. I have to say, I have never heard about setting up other websites as affiliate websites. That is definitely
a great idea. Admiting when your wrong and moving on from that, is a learning experience as well as it helps you with Character building too. But I do feel that also comes with time and age.
Thanks for the feedback and the great tips.
