It is not really a good idea to use more than one Keyword/Phrase in a post. If you do this you run the risk of overloading your post with Keywords and Google does not like that at all. It probably would be detrimental to getting your post indexed.
You would be better just focusing on one Keyword - use this in the title of the post and then several times throughout the content. Probably only about 4 or 5 times altogether for a post of 1,000 words.
Maybe you could do separate posts for the different keywords you have around the topic of depression. If Depression is your niche, you should be doing a number of posts focusing on different aspects, using different keywords.

Speaking from the angle of providing quality content- I'd like to be able to reach all these audiences because I feel like the post could help all of them.
Granted I don't plan to start stuffing my post, especially if that means the algorithm rejecting it.
Hi - to be honest, using a keyword 4 or 5 times in 1000 words is too much. You only really need it in the title and the first paragraph. I do sometimes add it a third time as a sub heading, but only because my posts are 2500 words.
Okay, I understand, point taken. I guess it depends on which SEO tool you use. I actually use Yoast and it would consider twice to be too few mentions of the Keyword.
Yes, you need to have the Keyword as part of the content. With Google, content is everything, especially if you are going to apply for Google Adsense. If, as Diane suggests, you only need the Keyword mentioned twice, then using four different keywords certainly wouldn't fly.
I used to use Yoast, but rarely hit green because I considered its keyword density checker to not offer the best advice.
At the end of the day, if you are happy with how your text reads and it appears natural and not forced, then you can only wait to see how Google ranks it. After all, it is only one of the 200 ranking factors in the algorithm.
It can take up to 6 months for Google to rank posts on a brand new site. So, once you get to that stage, you can consider the results and tweak if necessary.
