Saintly endurance

Given all the St Patrick's Day celebrations recently I thought some of you might appreciate this modern humorous rendition by a cartoonist of the good Saint's trials and tribulations when he drove the snakes out of Ireland!

Those of us who have been on long motorcar trips with children will identify with this situation!

Ha ha ha, good one!

Glad this brought a smile, thanks Anh!

Oh my goodness. Did you bring back memories or what!!! I love traveling but definitely don't miss those days.

Hi Darlene,

I hope the memories that were brought back weren't too uncomfortable! Lol!

kind regards,
~Arthur

Very cute! Carol

Hi Carol,
Glad you liked it, and hopefully that brought some laughter with it!
~Arthur

Great picture!

Glad you enjoyed it Kit. :))

Hi Debbi,
Thank you, I particularly empathise with the "so much fun…… not" … part of your response. :))
You seem to do a lot of travelling!

Warm regards,
~Arthur

That was many moons ago. The kids were little, we were military and traveling to/from Ft Richardson, Alaska.

Actually, I would love to pack up a van and drive across country, sans kids, but I can't get anyone to go with me. I don't want to go alone.

The trials and tribulations of a single woman. LOL.

Yes it cannot be much fun travelling alone, I suppose you're thinking of famous drives like route 66?

So where do you live? I'm married, but my husband agreed not to interfere with my vagabond ways when we got married, and he's kept his word ...

Not necessarily. If money wasn't an issue, I'd travel all over Europe but seeing all 50 states sounds ok too....taking tons of photos along the way.

I'm in VA, where are you?

Michigan. We've spent a few vacations in Virginia over the last few years, visiting military sites. Great history! I think we're going to spend a few weeks in North Carolina next winter.

NC is pretty. That's about as far south as I'd want to go. I missed the 4 seasons when I lived in FL. GA wasn't much better. There's a lot to see in our own US.

For sure! I've been to several states; probably more than half. Would be nice to catch all 50!

Been there, done that....don't forgot "She's looking at me!" We drove with the kids from NY to WA then back from AK to NY. So much fun.......not.

Been there;done that! Too often. I raised 9 kids and they 'blessed' me with over 30 grandkids and 12 great grandkids. I know whereof you speak, O Brother of Mine! Love each and every one of them too.

Many thanks for your response Ian, you should certainly know about endurance and patience required with so many kids in the car!

By the way you have a very elegant looking site and I was most touched by the story of how you allowed the family of 5 to eat for free at your restaurant! That has to be the principle of "paying it forward!"

I will be visiting your site more often in future and will be taking advantage of some of the recipes you offer.

I need to eat healthily as I endured a heart attack recently and this was probably due to too much cholesterol.

Kind regards,
~Arthur

Hi Arthur; Believe it or not, most heart attacks, unless they are actual muscle failure or fatigue, are caused by failure of the vascular system feeding the hear. That means, if we want a healthy heart, we need to look at what we do for exercise first, then at what we eat. I'm 70-ish (hive or take) and am heart healthy due to my lifestyle.
Yep. Lifestyle is the biggest indicator of how our hearts are. I walk daily for at least 5 miles, unless the weather is so nasty that it becomes impossible. I love to ski as well. Judging by the photo, you look to be between 55 and about 62 years in age. So, look at what you can do COMFORTABLY for exercise, then do it.
I don't want to come off as a preacher, but it works. I will PM you with what I do to keep cholesterol and such in order in my life. I'm a diabetic and also have to watch my carb and sugar intake. I look forward to talking with you.

Ian

Thanks Ian,

Being diagnosed as a type II diabetic I just wanted to say thank you for the PM and I'm going to now ensure (apart from a healthy diet) that I walk for at least 5 miles every day (that's approximately 8 km...... quite a distance, but well worth it for health's sake!)

~Arthur

Start off in shorter stages. That's what I did. I started at half that distance and worked up from there. Be safe my friend.

Makes eminent sense, thanks Ian!

Hi Dorina,
Hope it gave you some chuckles! :))

Kind regards,
~Arthur

Funny!

Lol, love it!

Thanks Jude, I'm sure you've been there before! :-)

Many, many times!

:))
