March results and are Facebook Statistics accurate.
March is completed and another great result through our Facebook Page. And I am being left with a question .. how accurate are Facebook's Statistics, known as Insights?

Another challenge is our offline statistics. Because we are dealing with large numbers of people and a number of logistical issues our offline number tracking is not 100% accurate .. as we grow I will work to improve this.
We were shocked coming home one night when we found a huge video signboard promoting our Sunday morning yoga at an office tower/shopping complex. Free advertising is good!
Now Facebook March.
- Number of non-boosted Posts: 12 with a total Reach of 51,428
(note: these are all Instagram posts automatically posted to Facebook)
- One Boosted Post that ran from 4 February to 28 February. The results of the boosted Post are below.
These results were quite different than last month:
What we changed:
- We served the Post to women only (as proposed on the last Post)
- We made a second change .. the legal age here is 17 so we reduced the bottom end of our age group from 18 to 17
What we kept the same:
- Everything else including our advertising spend
Note to self: NEVER change two related variables (eg. gender and age) .. only change one at a time.
Observations:
- I don't believe the Facebook Statistics showing the reach in the 13-17 year old category (it would all be 17 year olds) is so high. There are other Stats in the Insight details that, based on evidence, do not look accurate but this is not the place to cover that.
- Total Reach is a long way down .. 141,915 compared with 225,562.
- Our target market is female and the previous month female Reach was 22.9% of the total, which means female Reach in February was 51,653 ... so 141,915 is a big increase.
- Total engagement is down 49,847 compared with 58,595.
- Engagement percentage is up at 35% compared with 25%
- Facebook Page Likes is 669 compared with 330 .. more than double
- Comments (and Facebook messages) enquiries are down significantly however our Whatsapp/LINE/BBM enquiries are up over 30%. We were already getting the majority of enquiries via these phone systems so overall enquires are up over 15%. We prefer enquires via the phone messaging systems because those are effectively our "mailing list" and they are much easier to manage than on FB Messenger.
- Overall our Revenue is up also around 15% .. it will be mid month before I have final numbers on that.
Take-aways
- As we have more closely targeted the market the costs per "Reach" has increased .. however our cost per enquiry has dropped for the same reasons, better targeting.
- Our engagement is ridiculously high .. 35% OMG .. even the 25% last month was amazing.
- I don't know the impact of the 17 year olds however the enquiry rate from that age group is very low.
- Our Page Like rate is also exciting. If the rate continues we will be in the 20-25,000 Like range by Christmas which will give us 5-6,000 Reach per non-boosted Post.
April Plan
- Change the targeting to start from 18 year olds
- Double our advertising spend compared to February and March
Ok, ok, I know this is changing two variable but they are unrelated variables.
