Life and Times of One Affiliate
When she started to pull it all together, it was amazing how much info and beautiful photos she’d collected over the years.
Janita’s only problem is that she's not good at English or typing... But she is not shy and loves to talk talk. So she set up a little studio in the back room, where she creates most of her website content in short videos. Her audience loves it because she shows them how to do things correctly, especially when it comes to treating an injured or sick parrot. Sometimes, the birds play up, but it usually ends up in hilarious footage of crazy parrots shenanigans. They love that too!
These days, Janita is rightly recognised as an expert in her field. Part of her routine is giving advice about all of the products, equipment and treatments for the parrots. Most of that work is done via comments on the website.
She guides her audience to Amazon and other online sellers and earns a commission when they buy through her affiliate links.
Janita also sells a monthly email subscription for $4.95 through her site. The subscribers (237 and still growing) are always first to get the trade details of rare birds coming on to the market. The monthly email looks like a catalogue, but she adds her personal tips about caring for freighted birds.
She developed a relationship with one of the big breeders/ importers. Now, they alert her, in advance, to new consignments and they work together under a private affiliate program. When a subscriber buys a bird through her catalogue link, the importer pays Janita 10% commission.
The favorite part of her work is attending trade fairs. They keep her on trend and she gets first hand knowledge of the latest products for her niche. Occasionally, she runs a competition in her monthly email, using a new trade fair product sample as a free giveaway. It keeps her audience informed and happy.
Working from home is a welcome bonus to her business, because it allows her to spend even more time with those special parrots.Recent Comments

Thanks Katie. Positive action on what you think can work for you...if it doesn't work, try something else.
That's excellent Janelle, Janita has used her knowledge and experience and turned them into a nice little business for herself....all anchored by a monthly subscription income of around a thousand dollars to keep the wolves away....brilliant!!

We should listen to our thoughts more often....and act on them. This is an example of an emerging entrepreneur.
