Happy Saint Andrew's Day!
In Scotland, and many countries with Scottish connections, Saint Andrew's Day is marked with a celebration of Scottish culture with traditional Scottish food, music and dance. The Scottish Parliament passed the St. Andrew's Day Bank Holiday (Scotland) Act 2007, which designated the Day as an official bank holiday.
St Andrew's Day is an official flag day in Scotland. The Scottish Government's flag-flying regulations state that the Flag of Scotland (the Saltire or Saint Andrew's Cross) shall fly on all its buildings with a flagpole.
Saint Andrew the Apostle: Saint Andrew was the first disciple of Jesus. He was the younger brother of Saint Peter and was born in Bethsaida on the Sea of Galilee. The brothers were fishermen by trade. Jesus called them to be his disciples by saying that he would make them “fishers of men.” Saint Andrew was martyred by crucifixion at Patras in Achaea in Greece. Because St. Andrew deemed himself unworthy to be crucified on the same type of cross on which Christ had been crucified, he asked to be tied to a Crux decussata or an X shaped cross.
Other countries celebrate Saint Andrew's Day: In Barbados this day is celebrated as the national day of Independence in Barbados. In parts of Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Russia and Romania, a superstitious belief exists that the night before St. Andrew's Day is especially suitable for magic that reveals a young woman's future husband or that binds a future husband to her.

Aye........let the wind blow high let the wind blow low, through the streets in ma kilt I'll go.....
I'll get my coat!
Although I was born in that dismal foreign land, my roots are in a sept of the Clan Guin & McKay up in the far north land of Suther.
Here's tae us, wha's like us, damn few, and they're a' deid, mairs the pity.
Don't be fooled by the name, it's a pen name.
Robert
You are right, but way back when Eric was a red. The correct way to spell that would be Vingkish
Ah Robert, Eric was a red between late 92 and mid 97 but I can't find any reference for the spelling of your word Vingkish......what is it?
Eric was born 950 ad and passed 1003, I have no relationship to the guy who assaulted spectators and played for Salford United. The team masquerading as Manchester United have never been domiciled in Manchester. They were named for thier customers who couldn't spell Salford.
Vingkish is the name for a group of dreadful marauding savages who terrorised the northern lands. But the name is kept secret by those who live in fear of thier evil ways. Only a true descendant is allowed to speak thier name.
