Expect Plesk Outtages While we Update!
I recently blogged about enhanced security here at WA for websites running WordPress.. We've drastically improved the security as I mentioned here.
Today we are running some more updates to further take precautions and enhance security of plesk control panels. While we run these updates please expect that you will not be able to log into plesk.
How does this affect you?
At WA hosting, Plesk is really only used for management of email addresses (adding and deleting them). In the very near future we will not have any use for plesk as we are building in a user-friendly email management system. Full access to your domain's file system is done via FTP, subdomain setup is done via the WA website interface, and this really only leaves email account creation to plesk. We will be doing maintenance on plesk all at once so no one wil be able to access plesk while this happens.
What can we expect in the coming days at WA hosting?
Fingers crossed, we're going to be 100% spam and malware free at WA which means we can all get back to business of continuing to evolve as the most educated Internet marketing community online! The past week has seen millions of sites hacked with malicious code across thousands of web hosts. This malicious code is the same code that redirects users to random websites that some WA members have experienced. This has been well documented by server administrators and security advisors from many of the top web hosts online as being a problem.
We know what the issue is, we know how to fix it, and updating plesk is part of this security fix. We're working tirelessly to patch up any sites that have been affected, and we hope that in the next day or so everything wil be back to normal.
I'll extend my apologies in advance for disabling plesk access - what has to be done, has to be done!
Thank you to every single WA member who has had a site hacked for your patience.
Carson

Hey Carson, I might have spoke too soon. Just went in to all of my sites and am happy too say that all seems good again and everything is updated. I just hope this lasts. I've got so much catching up to do.
Hey Carson, will the Plesk updates you are implementing fix issues with attacks from Mass Injection Websites? I been having problems with my websites recently and not only can I not update wordpress and plugins, but last night I tried to open a support ticket and could'nt even accomplish that.
Internal server errors? Absolutely not, you'll want to submit a hosting ticket for that. Plesk is just a control panel for accessing certain aspects of your domain web hosting and has nothing to do with an internal server error. We'll investigate if you submit a ticket.
Thanks Carson...My Bad....I had changed some to the file permissions on my site and they conflicted with the new security policies causing the error. Thanks for going the extra measures to make sure our sites are safe.
You're welcome, and I'm glad to see that you figured out the 500 internal server error. I've seen my share of 500's before, very frustrating because they give you NO information about what caused them!
Thank you Carson, I had stop working on my site, due to the message I received. this is a relief.
Thanks for the update Carson. I'll wait for the time when all is fixed for my websites. I appreciate what you are doing.
Thank you Carson for keeping everyone updated while you do this stuff. I'm kind of glad Plesk will be superseded at some stage, it's pretty un-user friendly. Although I do hope you will have a way to access the database (at least to make backups). Actually come to think of it an automated back up tool integrated into WA Sites would be rather magnificent... :-) Or perhaps I read your post wrong and Plesk will stay...?
Thanks for keeping things running smoothly. Mark.
Rest assured if we decided to remove plesk altogether that we would replace every aspect of it that is useful (which is not much). Email management, database management, Ftp account management, that's about it! For now, plesk is just down for maintenance.
A site backup tool could be very useful, great suggestion!
