"Break a leg." in the world of the theatre, embodies the spirit of comraderie by wishing the best for performers, crew members, and enthusiasts alike:

The term seems counterintuitive, but it carries a profound meaning.

This intriguing phrase is as relevant to the world of online marketers as it is to the theatre performers: reminding us of the power of resilience in achieving our goals.

The Origins of this term “Break a Leg."

The exact origins of the phrase "Break a leg" remains a matter of debate, but it's widely believed to have emerged because of the superstition-riddled world of show business.

Theatre Folk believed that wishing someone "good luck" before a performance was believed to bring the opposite. Bad luck would be the result of a positive term.

As a result, actors and theatre people turned this term into a traditional wish for a positive outcome.

Over time, "Break a leg" has come to symbolize the fervent desire for success and an outstanding performance.

Resilience to Keep Going in the Face of Adversity

Just like theatre performers, online marketers also face the obstacles and challenges of maintaining their enthusiasm of reaching their goals.

The competition is fierce online, algorithms change frequently, and success is far from guaranteed.

Yet, like the theatre, it is the resilience and determination and consistency of marketers that can make all the difference.

In online marketing, setbacks are happened, and campaigns may not always yield the desired results.

However, instead of letting disappointment hold them back, successful marketers embrace the "Break a leg" mentality. They view challenges as opportunities to gain experience, grow, and improve their strategies.

The Tale of Resilience: A Skateboarder's Journey:

My grandson took the term "Break a Leg" literally when he refused to stop trying to complete a dangerous trick until he had perfected it.

He hobbled his way into the house on crutches after being rushed to the emergency room for the umpteenth time in his skateboarding career.

The scenario unfolded like this:

His fellow skateboarders were filming his relentless attempts at mastering a challenging trick. Despite numerous falls and minor injuries, he would jump up from the concrete and do it over again.

During the filming of his failed attempts to master this trick, he made a last bold attempt and fell down a 7-stair rail to the bottom of the stairs. In the video you can see his knee being grotesquely positioned as he hit the concrete.

He stated that he had made a mistake. He had refused to drink any water or eat anything before he had perfected this complicated trick.

Notwithstanding the lack of water and nutrients, he stated that he wanted to complete the trick for a final video for his upcoming launch.

At first, it seemed like a crushing setback, and we feared it might dampen his entrepreneurial spirits.

However, his response surprised us all. Rather than dwelling on his misfortune, he channeled his passion for skateboarding into a desire to explore other ways to enjoy skateboarding while he was recovering from his injury. I won’t give up Nana, he explained...

While recovering, he continued to follow the doctors order but continued to watch countless skateboarding videos, analyzed his techniques, and visualized himself performing the trick flawlessly.

His resilience paid off when he finally healed. With renewed determination, he returned to the skateboard and, to everyone's amazement, executed the complex trick successfully.

His unwavering spirit and dedication served as an invaluable lesson for me and should for every online marketer facing challenges in their desire to reach their goals.

Learning from a SkateBoarder

Online marketers can glean several crucial lessons from my grandson's resilience:

1. Embrace Setbacks as Opportunities: Just as my grandson used his injury as an opportunity to enhance his skills, marketers should view setbacks as chances to reassess strategies and refine their approach.

2. Learn from our Failures: Every fall teaches us something new. My grandson studied his previous attempts to identify where he went wrong, allowing him to improve his technique. Marketers should adopt a similar approach by analyzing campaign performance and applying those insights for future success.

3. Visualize Success: Visualization can be a powerful tool. Like my grandson, marketers can visualize the outcomes they want to achieve and work towards making them a reality.

4. Resilience Fuels Success: My grandson's unwavering determination led to his triumphant execution of the trick. Similarly, in online marketing, resilience can be the driving force behind reaching and exceeding goals.

I won’t forget the timeless adage "Don't Stop Til You Break a Leg" because it carries a valuable lesson for living our lives and building our dreams.

Because of resilience we gain strength when faced with setbacks. We learn from our mistakes.

We can take a breath to analyze our procedures and programs to modify them to meet the present situation.

Failure is a given but can lead directly to our success. The power to visualize success is powerful and attract the best in us to go forward.

So, let us all break a leg in our pursuits and never lose sight of our dreams, no matter the obstacles that come our way.

Love it Virginia and very well done for your grandson!

I have broken my legs too many times to remember and will continue my best not to do so again! :-)

Thanks for your reply. I have never broken any bones, but I have had too many experiences watching those broken bones heal. Sending you good vibes

You're most welcome my friend and any good vibes are always most welcome! :-)

An excellent example and message, Virginia!

Jeff

Your grandson is a champion in the making. To get up after failing 1 time is difficult enough, but to do it after several attempts and then hurting himself…and then getting up again shows the mark of a champion.

Thanks for your comments. Of course, I think he is a champion but it is gratifying to hear it from you. thanks

Wow, your grandson is sure brave. Many learn from such high-risk sports mistakes, and some of those mistakes can be fatal and severe life alternating injuries. I hope he does not sustain any more injuries.

That would be my hope. But he is on a first name basis with the orthopedic surgeon at our local hospital. I can only hope. He has been pursuing this dream since he was 8 years old and has the scars to prove it. Thanks for your comments.
