  • Internal links are links you place within your website.
  • External links are links you place from your website which lead to other websites other than yours

Placing these types of links within your content can greatly help it's exposure as well as improve the experience of your visitors. These are the general strategies I use when putting them throughout my content that have helped me see good results overall!

Hi Vitaly

So if I understand correctly, when I create a ling from Post1 to Post2, the anchor text in Post 1 should be the KW I am trying to rank for in Post2. My KW are long tailed ones as found in Jaaxy. For example, I anchored on vertical gardens in the fist post, but the keyword I want to rank in Post2 is "How to start a vertical garden." I could write something like "here is where you can find more details about how to start a vertical garden" and link this way. Dows this make sense?

I have not added any eternal links because I am not sure how to chose them so that I don't loose the traffic - people going away from the site and never coming back.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Mona so yes on the anchor text being the keyword you wish to rank for in post 2, but I wouldn't make the link long winded, the entire title that is. Just anchor text the keyword linking to the post with that keyword, not the full title in the anchor text.

Thanks for post,

Clo

Appreciate your explanation of the external and internal links. I use both on my posts but not as "intrinsic", I know a big word for me...lol. It was great to get a more detailed use of the links. Thank you VitaliyG.

Excellent info here as always Vitaliy!

When it comes to internal links, do you find it best or how can I say... more beneficial to link to whole other blog post titles or just single words which are relevant??

Or.... does it not make much difference...

🤔🤔

The anchor text you'd link through should be the keyword you seek to rank for, not the entire title of the blog post. That's how I do it.

Makes sense!! Cheers buddy, I have a lot of updating to do though!! :-)

Hi Vitaliy, I do use Link Whisper for the internal links , but it sounds like they do too much. So, do you use Link Whisper? Sometimes, it links to too many internal links. I am not sure that is right, like you said. It should not lead them to go everywhere. It looks like I'm doing mine wrong. I thought I was supposed to follow Link Whisper sometimes its 30 or over internal links, you said should only be relevant so do you suggest I remove that plug in and limit my internal links like you said in this blog? I appreciate this education. I am still learning from my mistakes. Should I remove all those internal links on many of my post and limit to a few as you said?

Hi Brenda I'm not familiar with this plug-in. I keep it very simple and just link based on what makes sense without the need to cloak links or use any 3rd party stuff. I think that just gets in the way.

I got it. You are right. I will follow with what you say and remove it. You are right it gets in the way and a lot of hassle. Carson said the same thing to me. I will work on improving my links. Simplicity is better. Thanks for this tip its helpful for me.
