Merry Xmas & a progressive 2017!

There are numerous lessons that we learn from day to day happenings, from month to month, year to year and even from the various seasons, just like this one: Lessons for our Business from the Christmas Festivities!

May I on the onset pass my great tidings to you, wherever you are at this time of the year........

Celebrate and learn from the Christmas festivities

The Christmas season is marked with joy and endless celebrations. Apart from the main event of celebrating the birth of Jesus, many people take this time to relax, rejuvenate, bond with family members and take stock of the year.

The whole period also ushers in the new year where people get to make new resolutions, start afresh and make long-term decisions that are meant to shape how the whole year will turn out. As you prepare to make merry with your family and friends, here are a few lessons from the Christmas festivities that you can apply in your Business Growth.

  1. Make a plan

Most people prepare for the Christmas festivities from the beginning of the year. They decide that during this time, they will go on holiday, take leave or simply stay at home and relax. For those planning to, for example, take a holiday, the arrangements start early as they start saving in earnest so that they can afford their dream vacation. This financial planning is useful as it ensures that they meet their goals of going on a well-earned and deserved holiday.

This should also apply for your Business for growth. Your should not be left to chance or trial and errors. Make a solid yet achievable plan then start taking steps towards achieving these goals, which is the equivalent of saving regularly. A plan will help you measure your progress vis a vis your targeted goals. For example, you could decide to pursue a professional/personal development course to help you build successfully or expand and build more or one niche websites e.t.c just to ensure that you grow in your business line.

2. Be disciplined

The Christmas festivities come with a lot of excitement and indulgence. The truth is, you have saved all year round and it is only fair that you actually enjoy the fruits of your labour. The merry-making is only made possible by disciplined saving all year round. Additionally, it is advisable to indulge responsibly because if you are not disciplined, the consequences can be fatal.

In the same way, you need to instill discipline in your Business goals. It takes a lot of hard work and discipline to actually achieve whatever you have planned to achieve. You have to put in the extra time, get out of your comfort zone and follow the rules. If you need to make adjustments along the way, do it immediately. This is the only way you will get to actually get that success that you have been aiming for or attain the kind of growth you have been yearning for.

3. Learn to take some time off

This Christmas, you will spend lazy afternoons lying idly at the beach, being soothed by the movements of the sea waters or building castles on the sand. Maybe you have planned to have a movie marathon lying on your couch or you are going to the countryside to unwind under the tall trees in your rural area. Whatever your plan, all you want to do is relax and feel the whole year’s fatigue evaporate from your body. This is a good thing because you have worked so hard and it is only fair that you take some time to rejuvenate.

This also goes for your Business. Do not just work until your body gives in. Some people are workaholics and as research shows, your health pays for it. Too much of anything is poisonous. As much as you want to meet your goals at all costs, relaxing should be part of the plan. This is also the way to achieve the elusive work-life balance. Work hard but also, take some time to relax.

4.Make time for your family and friend

Most people will be going home to spend the Christmas season with their families. This is a great thing as it allows you to bond with your family and just enjoy being around each other. You get to relive old memories and make new ones. Spending time with your family brings both you and them joy and it can be a great way to find happiness.

In the same way, as you work towards rising up your Business ladder, do not shut off your family. Take time, be it on weekends or leave days or vacation days, to be with your family members and to bond with them. This will help you to find a healthy work-life balance that you will be thankful later on in your life.

5.Be honest with yourself

You probably would have loved to take a vacation in a certain hideout that you have read about online. Maybe you wanted to head down to the coast and sunbathe while sprawled out on the beautiful sandy beaches that the coast has to offer. But the truth is, you could not afford either of these. Not because you had no financial plan or because you are a miser, but because something probably came up that forced you to use the money you had saved or something compelled you to have a change of plan. It happens to anyone and you have had to re-adjust your mast and head somewhere else for Christmas or make a different but realistic plan.

This can also happen in your Business. You may make the best plans and put the best measures in place but sometimes, things just don’t go according to plan. When this happens, be honest with yourself, adjust your goals to accommodate the new developments. This is not an admission of failure. It is simply an opportunity to learn and keep growing.

6.Celebrate your victories

The Christmas festivities are usually a time to enjoy having survived the whole year and overcome all your challenges. It is a time to look back at the year that has been and take stock of the milestones you have made, the goals you missed and the lessons you learned. During this time, you also spoil yourself because you have earned it by diligently working towards your goals.

Setting goals for your Business helps you take stock and track your progress. As such, whenever you achieve whatever you had planned to achieve at a certain time, pat yourself on the back. Enjoy the victories and take the time to give yourself some recognition. Maybe you finally got that website up and running, that you have been aiming for or that Business course/program you have been earnestly working on. Whatever it is, congratulate yourself by celebrating your victory.

Finally, the Christmas festivities give you a chance to have fun, relax, travel and spend time with your families. This is the time to indulge and simply enjoy the fact that you have gone through the year successfully. It is a time to take stock of the year that was and start making plans for the next year. Well, as you enjoy Christmas and all the good tidings that the season brings with it, learn some practical lessons from the season and apply them to your Business. Set achievable goals, be disciplined, learn to unplug, create time for your family and most importantly, celebrate your victories.
