Acronyms to the Rescue!!!

So, the other day, I was stuck...my brain froze...I was desperately trying to come up with content. Then a word came to mind, something I had used before: acronym.

What's an acronym?

An acronym can be an actual word or an abbreviation of a word.

A few examples:

NATO: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization
FOCUS: Follow One Course Until Completion
LOL: Laugh Out Loud
DIY: Do It Yourself

Examples of How to Use Acronyms

When using an acronym, I'll start with a word first then see how I can create an appropriate acronym. Often, I like to use each letter to represent a thought not just a word. Here's one that I used not too long ago: INSTANT

Identify What's Important
Nagging Rarely Works
Start Small
Talk it Through
Attack Without Mercy
Night Watch
Thankful Heart

You'll see that the beginning of each phrase starts with a letter from the word "instant".
I already had a topic in mind, so once I came up with a word I wanted to use, I just thought of a phrase that would be appropriate for the article I wanted to write.

And for those whom may be wondering about keyword search: I have a Keyword Spreadsheet that I use regularly. I'll pick a keyword that I already have the stats on, find some content to write about that matches that keyword, then I'll try to incorporate the acronym into the content. I'm sure I could play around with my methods, but this is what I've been using thus far.

This is by means a new creation here, but sometimes, when we're stuck, we just need to tap into something we've either used or seen before to get those creative juices flowing.

I would not advise the use of acronyms regularly. But when you're stuck and looking to write something in a short period of time, this may be helpful.

Happy Writing!

Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

Awesome Veronica, thanks :-)

Thanks, John!

Good afternoon Veronica,

I do not think I have ever used any, writing is not that difficult for me, I have more problems with technical stuff..
Just got my computer back, had to be cleaned completely, had some bad things, virus etc. Have gone back from Windows 10 to 7 again, of course lost Grammarly on the way. It was quite a job to make my computer look and function normally, like in old times. Anyhow, never a dull moment.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Greetings from New York!

I know a number of people can write without any issues or challenges, which is amazing! Perhaps I'll get there one day, but for now, once in a while, I'll use some tricks.

Thanks for stopping by, Taetske!

This is really a good idea! I see, you are very motivated... and able to motivate yourself! Great! :D
Thanks, Gerlinde

Glad you enjoyed, Gerlinde!

Great idea Veronica, I shall put it to the test real soon and thanks for sharing.
Take care.

Johan.

You are most welcome, Johan.

I used this method, among others, while in school....lol....not its intended use, but works like a charm. Great suggestion!

Hey Rosie!!!

Any trick that can help works for me!

Brilliant but I have a silly question "how do I save posts for later? On my phone as we don't have Broadband?

Are you talking about adding a post to your Favorites?

Yes Veronica.to keep for later when I need them.

-When you open a post, you'll see a white star in the top left corner.
-Click the star, it will then turn yellow.
-A box will appear, and you'll need to "enter tag". This is the name you want to give that post.
- Click " add tag"
- Go to your profile, and the top of the screen, you'll see a dialog box with the blank star, click the star and a list of everything you saved will appear.
- If you want to delete anything from that list, just click the yellow star next to the post and it will delete it the next time you open your favorites.

Hope this hells, Sinead.

That's a great post, Veronica

I so appreciate your words, Hal. I may take you up on your offer real soon!

You do realize that I left you an acronym, right?

WHOA!!! I totally missd that one, Hal!!! You got me!!! As I read your comment, I thought, "Mmmm....what a nice response.". Gotta always be on the lookout! Thanks again, Hal!!!

Good stuff...they're also called acrostics, but they serve the same function...

OK....I learned something new. Thanks, Arthur!

Never heard that word either Arthur. Lovely word and I shall use it this week

I like this tool. I had forgotten about it. I used it when I would study for certain subjects in College.

Best wishes.
Doris
