A to Z Analogy: Snow Storms

In my A to Z Analogy, I will take places, things and people and relate them to developing our online business. This is just for fun, but perhaps, you'll be able to see something from a different perspective.

Today's Analogy: S for Snow Storms

The above shot is one I took while coming home on the subway during a snow storm we had in the beginning of January, not last week (know...so many talents!). Why was I out during the height of a brutal snowstorm you ask? That will be for another post...when I'm making a solid 5-figures a month!

Now usually, I name a person, place or thing, and compare it to Wealthy Affiliate. But Wealthy Affiliate is not a snow storm, in any way shape or form. But...

What's the Common Thread

Some people had to make their way through the blizzard to get to work, while others were able to work from home; some were forced to shovel their driveways and sidewalks, while others were able to call o their neighbor's son and give him $20 for 2 hours of shoveling; a few had the ease of an electric snow blower while many had to do it the old-fashioned way.

During a snow storm, you can watch movies, binge watch TV shows on Netflix, clean, sleep, do crafts, repair appliances, reorganize you closet, read some books, write on your blog...the list of what you can do during a snow storm really is endless, But here's one thing a snow storm will make you do, regardless of your age, nationality, or religion...

We are all forced to slow down.

It's amazing! It doesn't matter if you're the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, parents with 5 children, 2 dogs and one cat, or a college student preparing a thesis. We are all forced to slow down during a snow storm.

During the first snow storm we had in New York City this year, in the borough of Queens, all MTA buses were suspended after 12pm. Although the subways were operating, the service had slowed down. Uber is always available, but with the roads so nasty, that may not have been the safest for of transportation, especially since all the roads had not yet been plowed!

Yep...we were snowed in and whatever we had in our schedule had to be revised, revamped, or in some cases, trashed altogether.

Sometimes, we experience our own "snow storms", but why wait until the unexpected comes? Why not schedule in a personalized "snow day"!

If you work a 40+ hour work week, do jump right onto your laptop or desktop as soon as you walk in the door, or do you schedule in some down time first? What about if you work less than 30 hours a week? If you work full time on your online business, do you every schedule in breaks, or do you just work non-stop?

So go ahead, build a snowman... have a snow fight... sip some hot chocolate...and always...

Strive to Thrive,

Veronica

I love it, Mizz Vee. Yes, life happens and there will be and are times when we have to 'take it slow'...and when we don't then Mother Nature chips in!
In any event, the hot chocolate and popcorn works wonders for me anytime!1
Have a great week!

I'm looking at that picture I took...I really like the contracts of the red and green light against the black and white scene. Just thinking aloud...

Yes, it's beautiful, Vee.
Have a great week.

I like that... A personalised "snow day"... great idea for a break V. :) -Mark

But who needs a personalized snow day when you're on a cruise, lol.

After the storm comes the calm...clear, bright future! Spring is just around the bend. Always fun to read your posts.

Yes, indeed, Debbie...the sun always shines through!

WA can be like a snow storm. The snow sometimes overwhelms you.Jerry

So true, Jerry!

I live with my kids and they work at brick and mortar jobs. We don't have a car. My daughter could ride the bus to work but my son has to walk to work. His job isn't far from where we live but on cold or raining days I remember how blessed I am to be able to work at home.
I don't have to fight the weather for my income.

Tried and true

Elaine

I'm not completely free, so whenever I have to make my way out in horrific conditions, my "why" gets stronger and stronger.

I received a few email alerts today...looks as if we may get another snow storm this evening!

Thanks for sharing, Veronica.

You got it, Roger!

Thank you for the reminder of breaks.

You're welcome, Linda.

Great post Vero!

Thanks!

I'm either at work in my job or at work on my Wealthy Affiliate site and WA community emails. I never slow down. I just work non stop. I must succeed :-)
Sleep? What is that?
Dave

Hi Veronica, this one I can relate to regarding snow storms! I've done everything you listed and more.

I have driven on 6 lane highways in white-out storms sliding across once and ending up on a pile of snow on the merge.

Forced to slow down for sure. I need to schedule in breaks since I work long hours every day and mostly 7 days a week! Now with this online business versus the highway commute I'm over due.
