Grammar Joke Explained
Some people mentioned that they didn't quite get the joke in my yesterday's post. Here it is again. To me it's absolutely hilarious. It's a bit weird to explain a joke, but it's a grammar joke, so it's OK.

The essence of the joke lies in the difference between "to" and "too". "To " here shows a direction. There's some mysterious "Seriously", to whom they take the website.
The sentence should have read:"Some people take this website too seriously."
Since TOO many people don't quite see the difference between these words and don't take pains TO use them correctly, I decided TO do this post and find some great graphics and nice examples of usage TOO, for you TO easier memorise them.See how many mistakes you can make in case you don't learn TO use these TWO words correctly...:)
True, in comment to my post, Robert (boomergr08) have already explained the difference pointing out that this mistake for him is quite annoying too.
Thank you, Robert, but I guess not too many people read the comments.
.
So here we go.
And here there go some examples of usages of these confusing words. You can both see how they are used and enjoy the beauty of the examples. I did try TO do my best.

Note that in a negative sentence, we use "either" instead of "too"

I like this example more. Hope , you too...:)))

Hee is an opportunity for you to check if you see the difference now.If in doubt, ask me:)

TO your future success! Hope it will not take TOO long!:))

lol yup. English is such a simple language - my third - so I think native speakers are just lazy to care to make that one simple difference.
Let's not 2 4get bout d supa lazy lngwij dey uz on texts nowdays.
I'm not surprised people don't get that joke but here is a constructive help Paul offered a while ago and I have been using it myself for my blogs. Grammarly is GREAT
I would disagree with you. English IS simple at simple levels. Starting with Upper-Intermediate level, let alone Advanced level, English is a very complicated language. It's complicated because of a great number of idioms, set expressions. phrasal verbs, homonyms, homophones...But it's still possible to learn it...:))
Maybe not. English presents difficulties in itself. It depends though, what your native language is.The starting position would be different. Thus, for a German person with their "sein" in the language would be easier to get a hang of 'be", but it would be difficult to get rid of strong "h" in pronunciation:))
Thank you for the mention Vera. I am always someone who takes pride in there...I mean their...content grammar seriously. ;-)
My pleasure, Robert. Oh yeah... We are not fulling around here, full of pride, or not...We take it all to Seriously...:))
It's not too polite to use the language which people don't understand. OK... which I don't understand...:))
I don't believe it. Having learned three(three?) languages, it shouldn't be difficult for you. It just takes some time and concentration.
it should bee eezy vor u!....:))
OK. Jokes operate, most of the time because there is true within them.
I have nothing to do with Tumblr and I do know the difference between to, too and two as I use these every day.
Thank you for the explanation...
