Well, I hope to get back here to the SOO LOCKS.

Another family road trip and it too was another rough trip on the back and lower half of my body. But it was well worth it.

The Soo Locks, Sault Ste Marie was opened in 1837

We got a glimpse of maritime history at the Soo Locks, where...

Freighters
Barges
Tugboats
And more

....drop 21 feet between Lake Huron and Lake Superior every day and night.

We were lucky enough to catch a few freighters go by when we were there. Such an amazing site. I new about the Soo locks growing up but this was my first trip. Never seen anything like it before.

We found the observation platform located within Soo Locks park. We saw the vessels haul vital cargo and we all waved.

This freighter was coming from Lake Huron to Lake Superior.

I lived a ten minute walk from the Soo locks for ten years. I also did the Panama Canal and the Soo locks are still pretty darned impressive.

The Soo is about 80 miles from where I live. The locks are fantastic. Where do you live, Rob?

I am in the Thumb. I get to see freighters every day in the Saint Clair River. But the Soo Locks was a fantastic site.

How much fun to encounter another Michigander! You drive right by my exit to get to the Soo! I'm in the Tip,of the Mitt. We sure live in a great state... The Thumb; the Tip of the Mitt. Who can beat those kind of locations?!
