Google AdSense MADsense Make Sense ?

Roll up, roll up. Welcome one and all. My Lords, Ladies and gentlemen.

Friends, Romans, countrymen. Lend me your ears.

Let the excitement build as I take you on a journey into the far-reaching labyrinthical

catacombs of Google AdSense MADsense and does it make sense.

"We will be satisfied; let us be satisfied" I hear you cry. "Then follow me, and give me audience, friends"

"I come here to bury Google, not to praise it. The noble Twack hath told you, Google was ambitious."

Enough already, Will was alright but he could go on a bit and I could carry on swapping names in and out but it's not big and it's not clever and I need to move it along.

Foraging back in the annals of my WA history, approximately four months ago, I was slogging my way through the training of the OEC. Late nights, early mornings. Being teased by those that shall remain nameless, for to speak their name would be to bring about the wrath of the 'Sheriff' and his 'Deputies' "What we've got here is failure to communicate"

I could take it, it was character building, no pain no gain. Just when you thought the end was in sight, the words "Write another article" appeared, grinning up at you and winking.

On one particular lesson, we were introduced to 'Google AdSense' We are all familiar with it and its name appears on many blog posts/questions. Either, as to the validity or the 'usefulness' of it. It was, nevertheless, part of the training and I dutifully put forth my application, sat back and waited.

And waited

During my self-induced exile, I did notice a few of the above mentioned articles asking, what is a familiar question. "How long does it take for Google to approve/disapprove AdSense ?" General consensus was a couple of weeks, maybe a bit longer, maybe less, depending on who was 'in da house' when asked.

So, a couple of weeks go by and then another, then a month, six weeks. Nothing, zip, zilch. I thought, obviously, Google had decided I was not worthy to the point of disgust. So much so that I did not even warrant a reply. Life is too short to bear grudges and I swiftly moved on, tail held high, like a 'Tomcat' marking his territory. Have that Smoogle.

Keep the above in mind, as it is relevant, promise.

No harm, no foul, life carries on. We are firmly in the 'here and now.' Recently I have been putting myself out there in various formats. It has meant plenty of form filling. In many cases, Google has assisted by allowing you to 'sign in' using 'Google' I'm sure you're all aware of that facility. I have a 'G mail' email and that is used on these occasions. Up until the last week I have never used it and didn't even know I had an 'Inbox' associated with it. That was until one of the 'sign-ups' required me to 'verify' and had sent an email to my gmail account. Mmm, that means I'll have to find it and log in. After much searching of old 'journals' I had success.

Rejoice rejoice, come, let us make merry and the band played heartily. So, I logged in for the first time since 2013, that's right, six years worth of unopened mail. Not as bad as it sounds though. As I had never used the account for much at all, there were only a few hundred. At the top was my 'verification' email. Sorted. While I'm there, I thought it would be worth going through and deleting some. As I was working my way down, what did I find ? A message from Google. Not any message, one pertaining to my AdSense application. Whoop whoop.

I rushed to open it and found that we were not friends after all. Rejection. Sigh. Oh well, it's not like I've lost something as I didn't have it in the first place. Wait, what's this ? It's an 'Olive branch' Google is telling me to dry my eyes and blow my nose, even gave me a hanky. Either rectify the issues or give them another site to look at. Gift horse mouth. We're now five months down the line and I have another site, so what is there to lose ? Principles ? Who cares, I want recognition from 'The Man.' Time to roll the URL dice and see where the chips fall.

Sense and sensibilities be gone. There it was, yesterday. My mate Googy, welcoming me into the fold.

There will be those of you out there will think upon AdSense with a 'Marmite' attitude. You'll either love it or hate it. I have an 'open' mind as yet. I would, at least, like the opportunity to see for myself. So I will acquaint myself with the procedure for adding it to my site and see what happens. It might be an absolute disaster or it could be a raving success. I have read of some 'issues' and I have read of some 'earnings'

It does have to be said that I'm not sure I would have bothered if it had not been for the second site. Google's reasons for giving me the cold shoulder on the first site, were not that clear. Something along the lines of, it not being easy to navigate. Where does one even start with that ?

The second site, with more training under my belt, has met whatever requirements needed. Have I done anything different with it ? Let's see. It does have a more user-friendly layout. All the posts are indexed. There are internal links on most of the articles and a few external one on a couple. The menus are simple to follow. There are some 'Custom HTML's' on every post. I guess it's just a standard site as per the training encourages us to do. It's simple, not extravagant in its design.

Looks like I'll have to blow the cobwebs off 'Ad Inserter' and cross any appendages I can.

Wow, so basically you applied for google adsense, they rejected but you only realized you were rejected 5 month later when you opened your gmail, you sent your second website for adsense approval and got it approved.

And you wrote the whole story in a literature-like essay. =P

Anyways, it's awesome that you got approve and gonna try it out. Mine took about two weeks to approve. The adsense code was there visible on my website for more then a week, so I decided to take it down (I find the code kinda spoils the look of my site), but wala, got approved a few days after removing the code.

I decided not to use it because traffic to my site is still very low, and the commission is also very low unless the site really have high visits (and therefore more likely to have more clicks).

Hope you will achieve success with this adsense, and make make some cents (and dollars!)

Idris

Unless it detracts too much from the site then hopefully it will bring in some extra revenue and be worth it. We'll just have to wait and see.

I am sure you will let us know how you get on.
I haven't used it...dont like the look it brings...or that it seems to take over the site.
I'll be interested to see what you think
Daisy

Hi Daisy. I shall wait and see how it all transpires and then do an update.

Excellant

Congratulation
I use to have ads free Google they keep saying that it need fixing all I try nothing
Now no ads an my site anymore

Am happy for you

All the best

Janet

Thanks Janet. They do seem to be problematic for many.

Yes that's what I see

I have earned 0.50p from Adsense so far. I dislike it as it makes my simple site look like Blackpool on a wet day, when you rush armed with 2p’s to the arcades. However it is the only money I am earning so far.

So for now it is there flashing away. I fully intend to apply to more affiliate schemes and ditch it. So it may only survive a few more weeks.

Congrats on getting welcomed into the bling club. Get ready for your website to be covered in flashy lights, and shouty adverts 🤣👌

Ps finished my book. ‘A very thought provoking read’ time to go get my doctorate thesis ready for my blog tomorrow 😂 👩‍⚕️

Maybe people like me who read whole books in a day don’t exist anymore. Old school (can read big words and more than 500 of them in one go😜)

Indeed, it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Still, if we don't try these things.

I look forward to your thoughts 💭

So far this month I have earned .03 cents. Some days I see ads on the page. Most days I do not.
This is the latest note from them,,,,, Earnings at risk - You need to fix some ads.txt file issues to avoid severe impact to your revenue.

I am totally LOST.

Sonny

Search for ads.txt in the plugin section of your wordpress back end. There's a plugin that will help you create this file...you can then delete it when you're done.

All to look forward to. However, you may want to check out Sara's post here:

Oh no not the dreaded ad text file! The tears come back when I think of that day!

Google AdSense is driving me BATTY! They keep say they can't accept my site because I'm selling ALCOHOL. Pardon?!?! My site is on indoor hydroponics. You can see it here if you want: https://myindoorgrowsystems.com/

Any suggestions what to do about this?

That is very odd. I'd reach out to them and ask them to clarify where they're seeing that. I just looked at your site and ran the following in Google Search to see what's indexed:

site:myindoorgrowsystems.com

I don't see alcohol anywhere.

Hey Darlene, I'd go with what Scott advised and get them to clarify. I've had a look through and nothing jumped out at me. They do seem to be an 'enigma' sometimes.

Congratulations Twack. Ignoring them clearly made them want you more.

Thank you Linda, you might be onto something.

Enjoy and keep them guessing.

Congratulation on your new door opening. I can sense that you are looking forward to this new adventure with AdSense. Enjoy the ride.

Carol

Thank you Carol. It does make you feel like you're being 'evaluated' for worthiness though.

So it's official. You are worthy of Mr. Almighty.

Now I'm just thinking about Wayne's World.

Congratulations on being accepted by Google.
Joseph

Thank you Joseph, much appreciated.

Do let us know how it turns out. I have resisted AdSense because I didn't want ads on my site. So far am holding tight. Whether right or wrong, there you are.

Had it not been for the 'option' when the other site was rejected I don't think I would have pursued it. I'm curious as to how they will look though.
