Could We Be Doing More ? Blogging Is Hard Enough As It Is.

This has been bubbling away on a low heat, for a while now. It's a neutral 'thingamabob' and really is a question, rather than a statement based on the negative inflection of the question. So difficult sometimes when you're trying to convey a thought or feeling through the medium of text (and a major lack of emoji's that the younger ones seem so adept at utilising.) Could we be doing more ? Blogging is hard enough as it is, even when we've been doing it for a while. Imagine what it's like for those that have only just started.

A little clarification goes a long way. Whichever way you look at it, writing is a large part of what

we do, probably the largest part. Drawn into this platform on the promise of a better future, we are then faced with the fact, that to get there, we're going to have to write an awful lot of words.

I wonder how many would have signed on if the 'pitch' had included something like "Financial independence can be yours, if you write one million words ?"

That said, it should become apparent in the very early stages, that we are going to have to knuckle down and write. To aid in this quest, we have the WA 'Blog'. The proverbial 'dry run' if you like. It allows you all the necessary facets that you will rely on when it comes to posting on your actual websites. At least in the basic form.

This is how I have always viewed it, anyway. Somewhere I could 'learn the ropes', hone those rusty and neglected skills. It is more like the real thing than we sometimes realise. Maybe even harder. We have a 'live' audience, rather than a few digits on Google Analytics. We have instant gratification. Then again, sometimes we don't. Those on stage, might refer to it as a 'warm crowd' rather than a hostile one.

You tentatively put out your literary offering, in the hope that it will be accepted, embraced and then commented on, in a positive way. Unless there are some really contentious areas, I would say that we are a pretty good crowd. We should be, lest we forget how it was when we first started braving the 'blog gauntlet'.

Ah, the segue. 'When we first started'. Have you ever wondered how many never start ? How many never take that step and forever remain silent ? Or, those that win the battle of 'fear of failure' and post that first post, only to have one maybe two comments. Possibly none. Happy to put my own bedraggled effort out here, to at least shore up the evidence folder. One paragraph, 184 words and no images. Pulitzer Prize winning material, it was not. Two comments and a question, that was unrelated to the post.

Now I realise that they will need to build up their network, maybe even 'pay their dues' (Personally, I have never ascribed to that particular phrase, too many good things have gone by the wayside because of it). Interesting that much is written about 'greeting' new Premium members and adding them to the 'network' and vice versa but nothing about reading a new starter's first post. Maybe it's not that easy. Time constraints and all that, plus we have to rely heavily on 'notifications' as it would be difficult to seek out new members (either Premium or free starters) and check to see if they have posts 'out there'

I guess there is no quick fix, one size fits all, solution. Like I said at the beginning, I'm just wondering if we could be doing more and I'm sure that there will be some that already do this. Even if it is just one a day. Pick one that you would normally pass over, read the post and leave a comment to show that you've engaged with them. I know it will mean a great deal. Without even having to check, I will always remember that NnurseBecca and Marley2016 left me my first ever comments.

Not a moan or a criticism, just a thought. I will also be making a concerted effort in this regard, as I could do better. (It reminds me of my school reports). That's it then, thoughts shared. No harm no foul.

Have a purpose driven day, because today is 'Telos Thursday'

Twack Romero.

A great suggestion, and shows how big your heart really is! ❤️
This is already such a wonderful community and to point out something so simple that we can all do to make it even better is no small matter.
So I embrace the challenge to do more to insure no member is “left behind”!
Thanks for sharing this contribution to help us all be better.
KyleAnn

Thank you KyleAnn, that's very kind.
It just hit home when I read that post. It was really good and deserved to be acknowledged more than it was. I know we're not going to manage to get to all of them, but if we at least have the 'intent' then it's better than not.

This is so nice Twack. Yes, I could be doing more I'm sure.
I also remember how encouraging it was when I got my first comments on my first ever WA post.
As to the question "Financial independence can be yours, if you write one million words?" if someone told me that I would never have signed up. It is better to find out some thing step by step not to be scared off :)

Yes, that line wouldn't have won any advertising awards, that's for sure.
I'm finding that slowly, but surely, I'm getting the right things to do, in the right place. This is something I would like to do more of.
It's easy to forget what it was like back at the beginning.
Thank you Lenka.

So true, it is easy to forget.

Nicely done. Thanks for sharing

Jeff

Thank you Jeff.
"Better out than in and a bad tenant" as someone once said.

This is a very good reminder indeed.

They're words to live by.

Myra

Thank you so much Myra. I am actually looking forward, to consciously finding the next post to read and comment on, that I might have normally passed by.

That is a win win. 🙂

The more you to pass on by to read, like, and comment, the better but you are doing great.
