Balance. Tipping The Scales In Your Favour
Balance. That pivotal point where everything is 'just so'. Whether you're balancing the books, your scales (Which can be really difficult if you're using one of those daft ones that they always seem to have in Doctors surgeries or hospitals) your time equally, between work, home, social and anything else that you can add into the mix. Is there not always so much to do ? Are you tipping the scales in your favour ?
I read a post recently that talked about the difference between 'needs' and 'wants' and I think it's easy to get them confused when we are trying to navigate through our busy lives.
Whatever your circumstances, trying to find that 'sweet' spot is difficult and we make it seem more so by the pressure we put upon ourselves. As I am in a rich vein of form when it comes to quotes, here's one I prepared earlier. Not really earlier, I just wanted to use that line which used to be on a childrens program called Blue Peter. They would show you how to make things but rather than going through all the intricacies and having to wait for the glue to dry, they would pull a semi-made one out from under the counter. Sorry, back to the quote:
"No one will expect more from us, than we do of ourselves. This is not the 'norm' but the exception, in my opinion. This exception is reserved for the 'exceptional' and you have to believe that is to be true of yourself."
I read the above and wonder if it's actually true or just half true, or maybe it's completely false. Then I think that it's probably open to interpretation and we are all different so will take it in the way that it resonates with us.
All of our situations will vary, no point in reeling off a long list when a small one will do. To qualify. For the vast majority of us, we are here to learn how to create our very online business, it whichever format we think is best. We might be working full or part-time elsewhere. We might be single, married, with children, without, retired, semi-retired etc etc. The list is long.
So finding a balance in our lives is not going to be the same for all of us.
How do we make the distinction between 'wants' and 'needs'. You want to spend more time with your family or loved ones but to do that it seems like in the short term you will have to spend less time with them. Yet the journey may be longer than you first anticipated. How do we reconcile the irreconcilable ? Be more efficient with our time ? Create routines and schedules ? Make sure the time we have away from work is quality time ? Work late into the night finishing that post. These are worthy ideals but not always 'do-able'. Why ?
Two reasons. (There are probably more but we'll stick with two)
Life doesn't run the smooth course all of the time. It can be unpredictable no matter how much planning we do.
No one will expect more from us, than we do of ourselves. This is true when it comes to what we are trying to achieve. Sometimes though we need to stop and take a breath. We have to weigh up the sacrifices we are making and decide if they are worth it at any given time.
Balancing the scales of our lives is an ongoing quest. It needs to be fluid. We need to be adding and subtracting constantly to maintain the equilibrium.
If, we truly believe in what we are doing then the journey should be of our making. The destination remains the same and we will get there. I want to be able to look back with a deep sense of satisfaction in how I got there. I don't want to see the past littered with broken pieces of life scattered around. Why ? because no matter how hard I try I won't be able to go back and change it. I can, however, decide how I want to move forward.
We are here because we want to be and our reasons are our own. Work hard when you can and at the same time be aware of the scales, make sure, if they are tipping, that it is in your favour.
Have yourselves the best day you possibly can.

Balancing everything just right is a toughie. A little tiny bit extra sends it more one way than the other, then you are scrambling to redress the balance.
Does it matter if it isn't always exactly level? Of course not, its the ups and downs that make life interesting. If everything was always level it would be boring.
Great post Twack, as always you make the grey cells power to life.
Yes Twack, you are so right. Balance is the key.
Thanks for sharing your deep thoughts.
Lily 😊
Hi Twack. Life certainly is a balancing act and everyone's balance is at a different level. Trying to work out your own balance isn't easy
For example, someone with children will have a different level to someone without children. Jim
That's a big part of it Jim. Yet, the framework we all work within has the same parameters. Sometimes it's a case of being more realistic about, not just what we can achieve, but how we can achieve it, within the limitations of our own lives.

Hi Lucy, yes it does look a bit confusing. Have you tried PM to Kyle direct from this account. I've seen the message on the Lucy50 account, so maybe Kyle will see that also.
