Anyone Want The Formula To Writing Content ?

Yes please, I want the formula to writing content, please. Waiting.

I am fairly sure that at one time or another, you have sat in front of your computer and said those words. Not the title words, though you might have.

I'm talking about "I wish I knew what to write" or maybe "I can't think of anything to write".

I know I have, and at those times, I had wished that there was a formula that I could apply that would get those fingers typing.

I had wished that every time I looked at the keyboard, the words would just start to flow so fast that the only thing that could keep pace with them were the thoughts racing through my mind.

How cool would that be ? Every day, you had an unlimited supply of inspiration, a never ending stream of fantastic ideas that just tumbled out of your head and onto the page.

If you did have that magical formula, you would never have to worry about content creation ever again and all of your endeavours in this online labyrinth would be successful, you could probably retire earlier than expected.

This is starting to sound like a sales pitch. For it to be a proper 'pitch' then I would probably have to carry on 'beating around the bush' or 'going round the Wrekin' as they say locally.

Well, it's not a sales pitch. That said, here's how I came to be writing this post.

A couple of days ago, I had a conversation with another member (Greg aka @gnoose) through our comments on my post 'Why we should look at the bigger picture'

I say a conversation but it wasn't really (Resist the urge to ad lib into the Monty Python 'Argument' sketch). Greg left a comment and I replied, that was the sum total of our conversation.

He mentioned that the cover image of the post, reminded him of the 1958 film 'Gigi'. Intrigued by this, I went in search of this vintage Hollywood blockbuster.

I couldn't find the full length feature film but I did find a few clips on YouTube. Now, as you already know, if you've watched anything on YouTube, there is a section on the right hand side that shows thumbnails of other videos that you might find interesting.

It's a ploy, you know it and I know it. A way of keeping you on the platform for as long as possible. Well, after watching a trailer for 'Gigi' and in a moment of weakness, I looked across and went down a video 'rabbit hole'

I watched a ten-minute clip entitled 'Top 10 Underrated Science Fiction Movies'. I am always on the look out for something decent to watch ( I have a list of candidates that seems to grow rather recede).

If I am going to sacrifice valuable work time and immerse myself in something frivolous, then it needs to be engaging and worth the effort. There's far too much dross on the telly box these days.

Ten minutes later, after watching a small snippet of each film, I had furnished myself with a list of ten potential viewing extravaganzas. Deep joy.

One of the films, 'Strange Days' piqued my interest more than most of the others. Not only for the fact that it stars Ralph Fiennes (He of Lord Voldemort fame, who knew ?) but because of one line. This one line, delivered with no context, caused me to rewind a couple of times, so that I could write it down verbatim.

Would you like to know what it was ? Of course you would. Here it is.

"Without love, without anger, without sorrow, breath is just a clock ticking"

You can see why I had to hit the pause button and write it down. At that precise juncture, I knew I had to share it with all of you. At that time, I wasn't sure of the 'how' but that didn't matter, it was in my notebook and would find its way into my writing, one way or another.

How does all of this connect with the title and more importantly for you, what is the formula to content writing ?

Then, without further ado, allow me to pass on this closely guarded secret and, might I add, at no cost to you whatsoever.

One thought = One post

Use it wisely, who knows what it might lead to. I'm sure you don't, but If you do require proof that the formula works, then here is the last part of Greg's comment:

"The cover image. First thought was the very opening of the movie GIGI with Maurice Chevalier"

There it is then, all we need is a bow to finish wrapping this up. I trust you are all having a marvelous Monday and that you are staying safe, healthy and happy.

Twack Romero.

Amazing Twack, yup that's you!!
I video cruise also. It's getting hotter here, because it's Arizona, and I am getting up 5 am so I work outside until it's too hot for me. Now about 9 to 10 am.
Summer is time to hide away at mid-day, especially as we have a few days of spring and OOPS, summer arrives!
Eventually by 6 am it burning my skin, and the relentless sun doesn't go down until 9 pm. That is why it's sunlight overload by end of August. ARID zona.

So, I listen to youtube when I want to make up my sleep during the heat of the day, like when that heat could seriously hurt you!
Yes video cruise can give you lots of ideas, or drone on and help you grab a nice long nap!

Thank you Amazing Twack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are never a Snore, Always a Roar!

Suzay

You are always so very kind to me Suzay and I am always very grateful, thank you.
I've managed to steer clear of Youtube, for the most part, it's easy to lose an hour, if you're not careful. Time is too precious at the moment.
That's a long, hot day by the sounds of it. Siesta's should be obligatory.
Have a good one.

I think of the best stuff to write when I am no where near a device or pen/paper and at 59, my memory isn't the best!!! Now, I can just belt out commands and reminders at my Google assistant, my new friend. I love tech and I loved your article, I kept reading......that doesn't always happen.

Well Pam, I'm pleased that you read it all, I can ask for no greater compliment than that.
I could do with utilising tech more than I do at present. I have avoice recorder sat on the desk that's been used once, as I never remember to take it with me.
I believe a 'follow' is in order, good to meet you.

I remember a presentation guru many saying something that stuck with me. He said one idea one slide. That revelation has helped my many presentations. The focus. The clarity that simple principle brought.

I think that it applies here as well. One thought - one post - that is what keyword is all about - the focus - so that the post is not all over the place - it is focused - it's goal is clear - it gravitates towards one thought - it can be expanded but gravitates back to that center point - one thought

I really think you have something here. Kudos!

Thank you so much Bosco. Sounds like you picked the right one to watch.
I like the way you have applied it here as well. It's very easy to wander 'off topic' but if we approach each article with one singular thought then, as you say, we can direct ourselves back.
Thanks again, I might have to further explore this one.

One thought = one post is a great idea if you write WA posts. That's what I do too, but what about keyword-based writing? I found out I enjoy writing without any keywords so much more, just pure thoughts. Sigh.
I love the sentence you wrote down in bold. It's so powerful. "Strange things" seem to be worth watching, I also often look for something good as I don't watch telly.

Hi Lenka, I think you're right, it is much easier to write here, as you have so much scope.
I agree, that sentence really took me by surprise, hence making a note of it.
You should set up a 'blog' site, somewhere you can go when you want to follow those thoughts, tis' what I have done. A place where I can write anything about anything.

I know what you mean, Twack, but who would I write for? No one will read it, or am I wrong?
I have another website set up last September when I joined WA and the domain name is just my name and surname dot come so I could write anything there but I just don't know who for.
The only place where it makes sense to write my genuine thoughts knowing that people would read it seems to be WA.

Then start here. You have a warm audience that will devour your content.
You can share it across many different platforms, to help spread 'the word.'
Once I realised I enjoyed writing, I just wanted to write and wasn't really thinking about who I was writing for.
My 'other' site is completely unconnected to me, so I can really just 'write' for the joy of writing. I have no idea if anyone goes there or not, I've never checked.

Thank you! It really is a good idea.

You are always welcome.

I'd forgotten all about that movie 'Strange Days' with Ralph Fiennes.

Appreciate the sound advice on a thought and post - I just need to remember not to over-complicate things.

Thanks, Twack!
Isaiah 😊

You're very welcome Isaiah and thank you. I know what you mean though, it's easily done.
