As They Usually Say, Slow And Steady Wins The Race
Hello everyone, Edwin here!
How's everything going on so far for my fellow WA members? It's already February and for me, things are progressing at a surprisingly slow rate, that is until yesterday, when I spent my time doing research and developing my website.
Back at New Year's I had set out a goal for myself to complete at least a hundred articles by the end of April but reality interfered and I suppose changes to the goals have to be made.
That goes the same for most of us here ain't it? We set a goal, we get motivated in the beginning aaand reality comes walking over with a bat and swings it right in ye gut and shouts "NOT GONNA HAPPEN!"
The MOST important thing I got from trying to balance my schedule is...
DON'T LET YOUR BLOG LEAVE YOUR MIND
That's when things will really come to a halt.
I watched a video on YouTube from TedTalk the other time and there's this section talking about procrastination. To cut the story short, moderately procrastinating gives us time to think of more creative ideas! To quote from the video, the idea is left to incubate at the back of our minds.
How does this translate to our day-to-day activities? We're all bogged down by our jobs and there's barely any time we can spare.
Well, if you think about it, there will be times when we are on a break. We can't possibly be working non-stop right? We can use these small pockets of time to generate ideas, plot out the plan ahead for our blog or come up with a new style of writing!
Doing this will help us make mental notes for what we might want to do when we can actually start working on our blog again! It saves us time from generating ideas when we really want to start.
I've also read a really helpful blog by Swangirl which talks about planning ahead of time for article ideas and we can use the little time we have for this as well! Way before we do any keyword research for our topic.
So, go ahead and try it out! Maybe you can come up with ideas you'd never think you could come up with. The idea here is to keep a thought at the back of your mind and getting back to it whenever you can.
It doesn't matter how slow things might get when you're busy because as long as you've got a plan in your mind, things will speed up for you.
Hope this helps some of you!
Happy Blogging!
Edwin
