Tip To Make Progress on Websites With Little Time

Sometimes we want to get content added to a website but don't know what to write about or don't feel like we have time to get a post done. Or we just have no motivation for whatever reason. Maybe we are tired, or sick or just juggling too many things.

So How Can We Make Progress on A Website with Little Time?

I have a trick that always works well to help keep me on track. It is really simple so I don't know if it qualifies as much of a trick but here it is:

I take whatever snippet of time I have and use it to find great keywords so that I will have a post idea ready to go when I have time later. I start a new post and fill in the title. Then I save it as a Draft.

These are the steps I use to find great keywords.

1) I start with a broad or specific idea for a post topic. This is usally a specific product I want to review.

2) I go to Jaaxy and search for that topic using a variety of different keyword phrases such as the name of the product itself, the name of the problem it solves, "how to...", "what is the best...", "best...".

3) I save the best results in a list on Jaaxy.

4) If I found a really good keyword phrase (high searches and low competition), I will pick it and go to my website and start a new post. I will write that keyword phrase as the title of the post and save it as a draft.

5) If I didn't find a very good keyword phrase I might keep searching for different keywords or come back to it later but I try to find a good one that can work.

6) You can also run the keyword phrase through a healine analyzer like CoSchedule's Headline Analyzer to make sure it is a good one.

7) Now when I have more time I have a post already started. I don't have to think about what to write and it feels easier since the topic and title are already set. It gives me a great headstart when I sit down to write and makes the writing much faster.

I try to do this whenever I have some time so I have a bunch of posts with just the title only waiting as drafts on my sites.

NOTE: I am very picky about keywords. I never pick a keyword with over 100 for QSR (competition) and I usually find keywords with hundreds if not thousands of searches and less than 40 QSR. Many of my keywords have less than 15 QSR. Occassionally I will pick one with no competition at all but low searches because I think that product will become more popular in the future and I am getting in on the ground floor. In any case, if the competition is high I just don't touch it.

Therefore, I have a select assortment of posts waiting for me with titles only saved. When I have some time to write, I go into my websites, look at All Posts, look at the Drafts and choose whichever topic I want to write about. I do this with both websites so I can write about whichever niche I want on a certain day.

Onward and Upward

Hey there Jessica, you have found a tactic that works great for you and sure enough a lot of people can benefit from your post here, thanks for sharing.

I use the same method basically but another thing that I like to do that may help you and others as well, is to write down (in the title) the rank numbers.
As an example... 450, 224, 15
So the 450 would be Avg,
224, Traffic and the
15 would be the QSR.

Anyways, on each post that I save for later, having the numbers at the top also helps me decide which to write about next. Then of course before publishing you refine the title and get rid of the numbers.

Thanks again for sharing :)
Hope you like my tip ;)

Hi Amelita,

That is a great idea! Thanks for sharing it! I kind of weed them out on the front end I guess. I only pick the ultimate cream of the crop keywords to start posts with. I know if it is there it is very good, not just good.

Your method would give me more options to write about however so that's a plus.

Thanks!!
Jessica

Wonderful idea that i will try i already make keyword lists with jaxxy n my limited time..never thought to save titles as drafts waiting to be filled in.
Might make less time easier ☺☺

It really helps me! Then I have nothing to "think" about in order to get started. I just open up my site and pick one of the drafts and go.

Thanks!
