Find Your Niche
The first thing in starting your online business is to figure out your niche. This is explained very well through the main Get Started Course and through various other blogs and training.
"What Should Be My Niche?" - Whenever I see this question popping up, I ask the person whether they got any hobbies. Hobbies are a good way to start on your business. It is easy to write about a lot of things without having to look much up on the internet. Your hobby is usually something that you enjoy a lot, have a lot of knowledge about and will be something you want to learn even more about.
If people really have no hobby yet, now is the opportunity to start one. Any subject you have little knowledge about but would like to learn more about and figure out if it could become a hobby, could become your niche now. And what is more fun, then get to learn a new hobby and in the progress earn some money with it too.
Found Your Niche? Congratulations!
First of all I have to congratulate you on finding your niche. This is always a huge task for any new beginner in the online business branch.
Choose An Audience
When you have chosen a niche, you also choose an audience. This last part isn't always as easy and is definitely not well enough explained in the course material. For my niche I even didn't bother until much later. I realized it would have been better to have figured that out beforehand, as it makes targeting your writing much easier (and might you ever go into PPC marketing, then this might save you money).
To define your audience, you need to figure out who you are helping out. You can do this by creating an audience profile.
Jay/Magistudios had a very nice document for the definition of your audience. The idea is to create a so called avatar for your site. The avatar for your niche defines all the characteristics and demographics of your audience.
You need to find out about the following demographics:
Avatar for "(your niche)"
- gender (males/females, else both)
- Age group (for example students 18-25)
- Marital status (yes/no/doesn't matter)
- Kids (yes/no/doesn't matter)
- Interests:
- ...
- ...
- Where do they live:
- ...
- ...
- Likes:
- Dislikes:
- Hopes & dreams:

NB: Do not request editing access for the document. Instead go to File > Make a Copy.
This will create a copy to your own Google Drive.

More Audience Tips
Even if you don't see directly what your audience is, such as you are stuck with a certain subject, you have to realize the answer to:
"Who is possibly going to use that information?"
Luckily we have a community called Wealthy Affiliate that helps you whenever you get stuck on something. So when you get stuck at finding and defining your audience, then you should definitely ask!
Next up: We will take a look at how you will find what your audience wants.
Good job!
We sometimes wonder why we get traffic but no conversions. Your tutorial is a good reminder that it is important to connect with your audience. So, thank you.
Benjamin :-)
