This is why I've created this "small" Wordpress glossary that can help you to create a solid ground for your future efforts.

301 redirect; HTTP status code used to tell search engines that a web page has permanently moved to another URL; will force the visitor to automatically jump to a new specified URL which might be on the same site or on a different one
302 redirect; unlike 301 redirect, the 302 redirect is used for pages that have been moved temporarily
404 (or “page not found” error); HTTP status code used when the server couldn’t find the web page requested by the browser

above the fold; the upper section of the web page that is initially visible without scrolling
AJAX; client-side development technique which incorporates HTML, CSS, XML, Javascript and several other web development technologies; it can be used as a data exchanging method – between a website and a server database – that can update parts of a webpage without reloading the entire page
anchor text; the visible and clickable text in a hyperlink
anonoblog (or ghostblog or faux blog); a slang term used to describe a so-called anonymous blog that is written and maintained by an anonymous author using a pseudonym or a pen name
Apache; reliable and highly customizable free, open-source web server software used by the majority of WordPress hosting providers

backend; the part of a website that is invisible for the user and includes different functional components (server, databases, scripts etc)
blaudience; the audience of a given web log
blog; a regularly updated website aiming a specific target group and containing chronological publications, articles on personal or individual thoughts
blogosphere; the worldwide community of all weblogs; the complete interactive universe created with various blog publishing platforms
blogroll; a list of links placed usually in the sidebar and representing a collection of other blogs recommended by the blog owner
blog archive; the one-page “history” of a blog presented as a complete collection of categorized blog entries
breadcrumb; a collection of navigational links used to show where the user is in a given moment in relation to the whole site structure
