To rank your content higher on search engines there is always the temptation to employ some shortcuts. You may want to use tactics to help your content appear on the first page of search engines like Google. These shortcuts will do more harm than good in the long run.
They are things you should stay away from as much as possible. Google algorithms will catch up with you, and you will not like the effect. One of the SEO black hat technic marketers are always in the habit of employing is Keyword stuffing.
In this training, I will concentrate on what is keyword stuffing and why it is bad? I will also dwell on how you can avoid keyword stuffing and still come out with SEO friendly content.
What is Keyword Stuffing?
Keyword stuffing is the act of repeating a specific keyword or number within a webpage in an attempt to influence or manipulate its ranking on search engine results. In many instances, these keywords appear in many irrelevant points that are out of the contest.
We cannot overemphasize the importance of keywords in search engine optimization (SEO). But it becomes an issue when the keywords make readability poor. If the keywords are placed correctly it will make the content readable. You will still achieve the same result.
Before we consider why keyword stuffing is bad, let us see how some marketers practice keyword stuffing.
Below are examples that are visible to the reader:
- They add words that are out of context
- Using keywords that do not correlate with the topic
- Repeating words or phrases unnecessarily
- Inserting text that list states that a webpage is trying to rank for
Below are examples of ways to insert keywords that are invisible to the reader
- Repeating text in the comment tag or alt attribute
- Using text colour that is the same as the background of the content.
With any of these techniques, marketers may feel they can deceive search engines to gain rankings. But it will eventually lead to earning penalties from search engines.
Thanks for sharing yet another in depth training with us all. As you rightly point out, and from what I have learned here I believe keyword stuffing is not a good practice for us affiliate marketers.
Our (potential) customers and the certainly the search engines can pick up on this practice, so it is always best to avoid stuffing and only use our keywords where applicable and necessary.
Much appreciated my friend and take care.
