Search Engine Search engines are Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. and are used as the platform for entering your keywords into.

Search Engine Opmtization (SEO) Refers to how well you are able to position your website to receive high ranking within the search engines, such as Google.

Scroll Bar When a web page is too long to see all of the content within the computer screen, you can use the scroll bar to the right of the screen to click on it and move down the page to see the rest of the content.

Shortcode: A specific code which lets you do things with less effort

Slider: Referred to an image or banner which presents itself as a slideshow with rotary images

SiteRubix.com This is the domain for which Wealthy Affiliate hosts all of its free websites. Once you purchase your own domain, you are no longer using the free domain of WA. It is also referred to the area of Wealthy Affiliate where you can access your websites, SiteComments, SiteFeedback and support.

Snippet A small block of HTML code that can be copied and pasted into a section of your website, such as a side widget or a footer.

Social Media This refers to sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+. You will be taught to leverage your social media as you progress through your training.

Spreadsheet A tabular listing of data that is stored in horizontal and vertical grid-like formats. Examples include MicroSoft Excel and Google Sheets.

Spam This is something not tolerated here at WA. It is when you are sending inappropriate material to someone for your own benefit.

Static Page Within the WordPress interface, all themes are initially set up to have your home page be a blog roll with all of your latest posts listed on this page. However, you can change your website to have a static page that users will go to when they visit your site. A static page is one that does not change or update unless you manually change it where as a blog roll is constantly changing whenever a new post is added.

Sticky Post: To create a sticky post is to make that post always appear as the first one in a blogroll.

Squeeze Page A squeeze page is a landing page specifically created for the sole purpose to solicit your name and email and put the “squeeze” on you to join their program or buy their product.

Hi Steph, thanks so much for this the information is invaluable. There are a couple of other terms I see being mentioned but am unsure what they are - backlinks and meta bar. Would you be able to explain these for me please?

I noticed that too and when I first published this resource there was much more of those special characters. It is not HTML. HTML looks like <html> ....<head>...</head>....<body>...</body>...</html>

These are some special characterization and I do not know what is causing them. I have to go and edit them individually.
