This training covers some of the terminology used within the Wealthy Affiliate platform and the computer industry. This resource will help new members of Wealthy Affiliate better understand the concepts and terms being used. After reading through the terminology, members will have a firmer grasp of what is meant by certain terms.

I understand how daunting and overwhelming it can be when you first join Wealthy Affiliate and there is so much going on and you feel like the new kid on the block. You want to get started and begin feeling like you belong. This training can help. In addition, if you have been a member for a while, you will probably find some valuable information in this training as well.

As mentioned at the end of this training, if there is any terminology that I forgot to include, please leave a comment below and I will add it in.

You have been doing the best internet basic training course I have come across. All other sites offer training and coaches but all the coaches do is a quick coach then mainly promote you up their ladder them abandon you once you have paid up full. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart, Tom.

I just am not sure on the part of whether Free Jaaxy Members can earn Commissions though. :/
Been hearing people say that you can get Commissions if you are a Pro or Enterprise Member, yet I unable to figure out how they even offer an Affiliate Link for Jaaxy Free Members to promote it when they might not even get a Commission in return. :(

So far, I got No Referrals for WA or Jaaxy as of late. :(
Reply
stephhill Premium
Okay. That through me off too when I read that in your article so that is why I asked. I did get one Jaaxy referral but they did not upgrade to Pro or Premium. And I am still a FREE member of Jaaxy. Did you get Jaaxy Pro or Enterprise?

Stephanie, as usual excellent training. The A to Z on Affiliate Terminology. This should help many people as we all have different ideas and understandings of what they mean. This will clear up any confusion. Well done and again, many thanks.

Hi Steph, really good encyclopedia

Some suggestions to add:

About me page: Page that should tell something about you, not about your business
Blogrol: series of blogs, threaded on one page
Carousel: rotating photos or banners
Gravatar: Profile picture attached to your email, which appears next to your comments
Gravatar Hovercard: pop-up with information about the gravatar
Header: Head of content on top of your blog
Page: timeless and static, can not be tagged
Post: Relevant for the time, but can become outdated, can be tagged
Responsive: A term which refers to how your website adapts to mobile devices , as phone and tablets
Shortcode: A specific code which let you do things with little effort
Slider: presents slideshow, a format which presents rotary images
Sticky post: Post stays always as first on the blogrol
Text editor: possibility to add your own coding
Theme: A collection of files that work together to design the interface of your blog
URL: Uniform resource locator, webaddress
Upgrade: improvement
Visual editor: pre-coded content writer
Webaddress: also known as URL

Greetings Loes

Steph, this is very timely but a bit late for me as I have just slogged my way through notifications (and activities) wrt emails I was getting.

I do have some queries I was going to ask. When I click on the green button on the right side (ie with globe in it) with the number of notifications I get a message that says there isn't any! Looking at the dashboard attached as an image below the notifications gives me the same number and there are items in it. So is the 'globe' only telling me that there are notifications on the dashboard? What is this dashboard - 'Activities through to Notifications' called?

Also in Account Settings are all the items under 'receiving email for the following events covered in this dashboard?

And finally, I have unchecked questions but am still receiving some on my normal email account. Have you any idea why?

I went in and fixed some the weird characters that were popping up on this training, but I am not sure what is causing it. It seems to be related to whenever I add quotation marks or dashes or if I do any formatting such as italics. I am glad to know you have seen it on other posts as well and not just mine. Then I would be wondering if I am doing something wrong.

Thank you for checking out this training on WA terminology.

Hi stephhill ,I have a question but its not relevant to your training. You and loes help in the past and I appreciate it, but I'm having trouble getting visitors to my website. Would love to get people to sign up so I can go to vegas to meet all of you. Can you take a look at my website and let me know what I'm doing wrong. I'm not asking you to build my website just take a look thank you. http://makingmoneyonline4free.com
p.s your training is great thank you
Reply

Sure. I will take a look at it and send you a PM with some feedback sometime today. Do keep in mind that it takes some time to build traffic to your site and you have to be posting three times a week to your website before Google will "notice" you.

What a super idea not only is this valuable but a must have for those who forget the terminology. One thing I noticed s that posts are being displayed with what looks like html any ideas? Thanks for that

Activity Dashboard This pretty much the “home” page of Wealthy Affiliate. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/home It lists the most recently joined

Posts displayed look like html? I'm kinda lost here, my friend.
Reply
stephhill Premium
I noticed that too and when I first published this resource there was much more of those special characters. It is not HTML. HTML looks like <html> ....<head>...</head>....<body>...</body>...</html>

These are some special characterization and I do not know what is causing them. I have to go and edit them individually.
