Is Your Job Boring? Do You Hate Your Job?
Unfortunately, this is true for most people. In the US and other Western countries, about 79% of all people in the workforce are disengaged with their jobs, ranging from simply not having passion for what they do to sheer active disengagement of hatred for their job and company to such that they do what they can to disrupt things.
However if you are one of the unfortunates that had to choose a job based on economic conditions in your life rather than on your passions, you can put some pizzazz into it.
Reading & Writing
Some of us have notoriously boring jobs like simply in a position of babysitting machines or in a position where they take calls. This could be any job that must be attended and doesn't always require constant attention on the part of the employee in that position.
Allowed to read books, magazines, newspapers and that sort?
Why not use that time for growing your business! Yes you can! Getting educated is one of the ways we grow businesses! Bring an ebook, book, or other printed materials on the job if you are allowed this. Never do this if you are not allowed! Even more important, don't do it if you are tending machinery or a security guard (in some circumstances.) Some companies do frown on employees bringing in magazines, and such. If allowed, you now have time, which isn't yours, that you can use for, not only reading and learning, but writing. Another great place to put out those articles!
If you have a computer on your job, all the better! However, work computers are rarely, if ever there for personal use. Whether or not you can do this on company time must first be determined. Never use company computers for your study if this is forbidden.
Listening to Music on the Job
Many job positions allow the use of radios and recorded music to be played. If you are in a quiet environment, why not play audiobooks and other recorded media that would educate you!
In these situations, I mixed this. For the sake of others who may be within hearing and are not fond of talk recordings, I have some music and some talk. It is also a great way to get folks interested in what you are doing and at the right time and place, you can perhaps, gain some referrals at Wealthy Affiliate!
Often, I take recorded materials from the WABinars to work with me. I don't have the video, but just having the sound in those instances are extremely valuable and they put more interest in a drab work environment!
No Music or Any Other Media Allowed?
Obviously, where safety is a factor, or where your full undivided attention is required, you will not be able to have of these with you. Some places disallow music as it can impose on others, especially if your music taste is not conducive to others.
Sometimes these are not allowed at all on some jobs, even if they don't impose on the duties we are called to do nor are safety issues. Some employers, regardless of this, insist on your total attention and feel you are on their time. Many jobs are like this. Leave the personal stuff at home. However, there is one thing your employer cannot take from you, and that is, your mind's ability to grapple with idea and plan how you will spend your off-time. In these situations, I always carried around a pocket note tablet and a pen. Some of my best ideas and strategies came from doing this. They also become great tools to jot notes and one-liners down from studies done at home. A sneak peek at times during the work day helps break up the monotony.
