I'm sure you have come across a url that looks like
http://BigTimeMarketer.com/Recommends/productXYZ.php

They do this to hide their affiliate links. Well, you can do the same thing in a few clicks using the File Manager. There are several ways to hide your links. If I remember correctly I showed 3 ways in a previous tutorial at Hiding or Maksing Your Affiliate Links

First thing is to go to the root directory of your domain. In the example I have been using we will go to mywebsite.com/httpdocs as shown in Figure 9.

Figure 9 Root Directory

Next, create a directory named Recommends or whatever you want to call it. Just click on Add New Directory and then enter Recommends for the Directory name in the next screen and click Finish. You will then end up inside (under) the Recommends directory which is where you want to be. See Figure 10 below. Note that there is nothing in this directory yet.

Click on Add New File. Surprise!! Have you ever wondered how to upload just one file to your website instead of having to upload the entire site? This is how. Figure 11 gives you 2 options. You can either upload an existing file from your PC or you can create a brand new file. The Upload file comes in real handy if you want to upload an image or maybe you made some drastic changes to one of your pages and just need to get that published real quick.

Anyway, we are going to create a redirect file so click on Create File and then enter the File name. We are going to create a php redirect for my WA link and the extension has to be php.

So far all we have is an empty file. Now we need to add the redirect code. Figure 12 shows a very simple redirect. There are many ways to create/use these. Note that the spacing is critical. There should be no spaces and must appear exactly as I have it in the example. So enter the code as shown and click OK.The code starts out with

Tremblant -- Yeah, it really comes in handy. Be sure to back it up after all of your changes are made and download it to your pc so you have an up to date copy. Check out my SIG for my webhost. Been using them for about 8 years now. All individual IP addresses at no extra charge.

Maz - You are welcome. You can do a heck of a lot with the file manager. If you are not hosting at WA, most hosting companies allow you to zip/unzip files. This is a real quick way to upload/download your entire site.

Thanks, it answered some of my questions and challenges, especially I was finally able to change the title "home" of my web page to something else easily; what web hosting co. do you suggest?

Thanks for a great tutorial. I didn't realise that you could edit the html code in File Manager.
