This label will show up in the left hand column and then when we want to look at the WA notifications all we will have to do is click on the label name instead of sorting through hundreds of emails.
After you click on the "Create filter with this search" as shown on the last page you will get a new window that looks like this:
Now we are going to click on the box to the left of the words "Apply the label" so there is a check mark in it. Then we are going to click on "Choose Label". These are circled in read in the image above.
When you click on "choose label" there will be another screen that opens up that gives you an option to assign an existing label or create a new label. We're going to create a new label by clicking on "new label":
After you click on "New label" you will get a new screen where you can type in the name of the new label. I decided to name it "WA notifications" you can name it whatever you want to. After you type in the name of the label you will click on the "Create" button.
***Note*** Gmail gives you the option of nesting filters. For example, I could have WA Notifications as the parent filter. I could then create separate filters for email notifications for blog posts, comments, and trainings. That seems like more hassle than what it's worth so I'm just going to lump them all together under WA Notifications.
After you click on "create" you will be taken to the screen shown below. You'll want to make sure that the "Apply the label" box is still checked and that the label you created is shown in the drop down box. In my case I named the label "WA Notifications.
The other thing you will want to do is click the check box to the right of the "Create Now" button. This will apply the label to emails that you have already received from that email address. If you don't check that box it will only apply the labels to emails you receive after you have created the label.
Click on the "create now" button and you are finished! You will get a message on the top of the screen saying that your filter was created. Your filter will be shown. On the far right you have the option of editing or deleting the filter.
You can also find the filter by looking on the left hand side of your gmail. You might have to scroll down using the vertical scroll bar to see it.
Earlier I mentioned there was another method of setting up filters in gmail. It's the same concept except the process begins when you are looking at an email and not at the gear icon at the top right hand corner.
Need a little more information on what to filter at the expense of sounding dumb or dumber. ^_~
