LEVEL # 4

Everyone plays games

If you use Linkedin, or complete your tax form. If you want the attention of your visitor, turn it into a game.

Gamification

Definition: Adding game elements to a non-game context.

It's about adding rewards, scores, points, batches and not about the game. Think of it as a sticker from the teacher. A reward for something you have done. Perfectly applied in games and copied by companies and organizations.

When you do your shopping, for example, you see one campaign after another.

Wuppies, fluppies, football tickets, pans and knife sets.

You can't think of it that way or you can save up something at the stores.

Other agencies keep track of your progress, how far you have progressed. Yes, level 4 of your tax return reached!

Or you will receive batches for your claims. A status! Who would not want that?

Almost everything is about scores. So many likes, comments, ratings, levels.

The gaming section of FB pages.

You immediately see how popular a message is.

Apps also work with gamification. How miserable it is when you have jogged for an hour and you see that your app did not work.

Bummer!

You walked for nothing!

Then you have to scratch yourself behind the ears and ask yourself:

Why you were jogging? For the app or to get fit and healthy?

When you think the game is more important than getting fit, you do have to think about it!

The hilarious effect gamification

Step counters

Look at your pedometer in the evening and see that you have far too few steps. You start running around the room for half an hour, because you can't go to bed like that.

Snapchat streak

Send a snapchat every 24 hours and certainly not interrupt the series, no way, child stress moment. Kids lose sleep over this!

Gamification of a whole country

Some countries want to enter gamification. Think of China. China wants to introduce a system. Earn points for your behavior.

  • Who are your friends?
  • Do you pay your bills on time?
  • Are you friendly to the cassiere?
  • Are you driving through a red light?
  • Are you visiting your parents?
  • Do you have debts?
  • Do you donate to charities?
  • Do you do fitness?

Everything counts

China wants to introduce this point system in 2020 in which all Chinese will get a score. And based on your points you may or may not travel by train or you may or may not get a job.

In China, life becomes a game (mostly for the authorities), and behavior determines the score.

Very interesting. Only yesterday I explained why I wasn't continuing with a particular tactic "If it's not fun, I'm not playing." Are you reading my mind?
