The Process Explained

Sooner or later, once you've entered the exciting world of building an online business, you will realize that you need to build a list of customer's and prospect's names and email addresses.

It's the only real asset your business has, besides products you've created yourself.

But how to do it?

So many starter members think that it's a matter of finding some magic WordPress plugin that you install and your visitors press a button and are then added to your list and sent emails with embedded affiliate links.

Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but that ain't how it happens.

Like so many things, it's a process.

But it's not rocket science. It probably takes longer to explain than it takes to actually do.

And once you've done it once, it gets easier and easier.

You Need a Product

First up, you need a product to give away and tempt your visitor with. I've covered creating a unique book in PDF form from PLR in Create Your Gift As an E-Book and how to create an original cover for it (absolutly essential) in Design an Attractive Cover.

Of course, you must have an autoresponder to store your visitor's details and send them emails and this is covered in Set up Your Autoresponder.

The 3-Page List Funnel

Once you have this in place, you need to create what I call the 3 Page List Funnel because, guess what, it consists of 3 pages that you need to create on your website:

  • The Opt-in Page shows the visitor your book cover, tells them why they need the book and presents the form they must complete (name and email address) to get it.
  • The Confirmation Page confirms that they've submitted their details successfully and tells them to check their email inbox.
  • The Download Page is where they are sent from the link in the email and contains the button that downloads the book from your website.

Now to make this work, there are a number of moving parts and I'll cover them all in this training.

But I'll do it in three parts, one for each page in the 3-page List Funnel.

Let's get started with the Opt-in Page.

Disclaimer

I use the Thrive Suite on all my websites and so all of the examples I show in this training use their themes and plugins. This doesn't mean that they are the only way of achieving these objectives,

WA does not recommend Thrive and that's not a discussion I wish to enter into here.

Please just substitute whatever you are using to achieve the same result.

No they are different products from different companies. Though Thrive Suite does recommend Thrive Cart. Although I've used Thrive in the example, you should be able to use your WP editor of choice.

Ah yes, the old lead magnet.. I created one awhile back but never used it. I need to dust it off and update it so I can get some use of it after all! Thank you for this awesome training! There's so much I have forgotten over the years...
