Set up an Autoresponder
What Is an Autoresponder?
An autoresponder is software that allows you to collect your customer's details (most commonly just name and email address) and store them in list.
It also allows you to email the members of your list in two broad ways:
- A 1-off email broadcast to your whole list or to selected parts of it
- A series of emails sent out automatically according to a time frame established by you.
Don't worry if this seems a little vague at this stage. It will all become clear as we proceed through this module.
You will come to understand that your autoresponder and how you use it is probably the number one money-making tool in your website arsenal.

- AWeber
- GetResponse
- MailChimp
- ActiveCampaign

This is excellent, Phil! I know Mailchimp does not like AM sites. Since my site merely introduces and promotes the books that I write, along with various writing tips that I have discovered words for me, could I use this Auto responder first? You can PM me your thoughts when you have time.

MailChimp is fine. I still have a substantial list there from years ago. It's not very responsive so I don't transfer it to ActiveCampaign as it would increase my costs. It's said that MailChimp doesn't like emails with affiliate links, but neither do I. That's one of the reasons I use landing pages. Then the link in the email is to my own site.
