Menu- Those navigational buttons below the website header and also in footer (in some themes) which link your visitors to your pages and posts. Most themes provide 2 menus, primary and secondary.

Meta Tags- are the snippets of text that describe a post or page's content. See picture below..

N.

Navigation Bar- See Menu

Niche- When we refer to the word niche here at WA, we are talking about a special interest, usually a narrowed down topic that you are particularly on fire about or that you love.

For example: Rather than having a broad, limited interest in baseball, Bill narrowed down his niche to his enthusiasm for his extensive collection of antique baseball gloves.

..............................

O.

Outbound link- The links that send a visitor from, let's say, your website to a website outside of your own.

OS- Stands for operating system. Such as, Mac, Windows, Linux, or, more specifically, Win 7 or Win 10, Ubuntu, which is Linux based or OS X for Apple.

..............................

P.

Page- A page in a website should not be confused with posts. Pages are generally static and in the menu bar.

Page View- When a page is clicked on and loaded unto a visitors browser.

permalink- This is the link that is unique and static(permanent) to the post a visitor references.

Pingback- A harmless type of comment that notifies the original author when the original post is reposted. Just put them in the trash or visit the kind person with a thank you.. You can also create pingbacks when using links to your own blog. If you do not want to be bothered with them, your theme may have an option to turn them off or on.

Plug-in- An electric outlet for plugging in the block heater of a vehicle in order to keep the engine warm. Just joking.... You with me? A plug-in is... software that downloads a specific feature to a website or computer. It may download a widget to your widget area, as well.

Post- Posts are normally daily or weekly articles on your website. You can put posts under pages if the need fits.

Png-Stands for Portable Networks Graphics, which is a file format that save graphics or pictures in high quality, also lossless.

Profile- The information provided by the author of a blog or post about themselves.

Page Attributes- Is a cool feature that lets you set the hierarchy(silo affect) of pages in your menu bar. You can also do this manually in your menu, but, do it this way while creating your page cuts out that necessary step. Call it a short cut, plus, you can change the template of the child page if you want to by choosing the default or one column/no side bar option.

Ha! Thank you for that truly kind comment! Joseph! It was nerve wrecking at first trying to decide how to format it but once I had a system it became fun as I love words. Have worked on it for several months and then watched a video by Brendon Burchard about distraction and push myself all day until midnight to get it done! Now I have a headache!! Lol! A labor of love! And yes I wil update here when ever I add something. Great idea! Thank you my friend! :) pj

I appreciate this post. People throw these terms around, and I have no idea what they mean. This one gets printed out and put in the notebook as a reference
