In this training video I am going to walk you through the process of initially setting up your website. I cover some of the main aspects of getting your website ready for content and ready to get indexed within the search engines (like Google).

Here are some of the topics that are going to be covered:

(1) How to access your Wordpress admin area
(2) Understanding the different sections of Wordpress
(3) What plugins are and the benefits of them
(4) Activating your Wordpress plugins
(5) Removing the "default" dummy content installed with Wordpress
(6) Removing the "Just Another Wordpress Website" text from your site

I really like the theme I chose, but I can find any way to delete a line under the title that is written in that nonsense stuff that looks like Latin. It's not a post or a page, and I can't get rid of it and it dominates the page! Suggestions?

Go into Appearance > Customize and you should see a section for Tagline, etc. That is where you can delete that second line.

That didn't work. I tried highlighting and deleting and it took me to new themes. Maybe I'll figure it out or just change the theme, but thanks anyway!

Hi, I have done everything as instructed but I only have 2 installed plugins I am missing my akismet plug in when I tried to add a plugin thinking I may have had to install it the message on screen said premium members only have access to added plugins so how do I get my comment spam filter if it is not already installed and I do not yet have access to premium membership extras?

These are not needed any longer, the procedure has been changed these days. No need for captcha and for Akismet or spamshiled. So be happy with less plugins. All is fine at your side.

Thank you, I asked in the live chat aswell and got a response within minutes so I'm Jo longer worried about the spam filter, but thank you for your input also :-)

I had my website up under another tab and followed along with Kyle's action items. This was interactive for me. I could see what he was doing and then I did them myself. I learn the best by seeing and then doing.
WA is amazing. Building a website is actually understandable at this point.

I'm not the most computer savvy person so I am nervous about all of what I learned here, yet I know there is so much support at WA that I can move forward with no worries. WA is the absolute best site that I have come across and everything here has been well taught. Everything has been made so easy that anyone should be able to do this. Thanks to Kyle and Carson for all they have done to help people move forward.

Kyle, I am so confused on how to set up my website. I can't sign in to word press, I can't find my about me page and I don't know how to input the privacy page. I really want to get this going, please help. I have also read that every time I sign in, it will take me where I left off. This is not happening.

Breathe!
1. Kyle covers each step...pause and play the Lessons, as needed.
2. Your About Me Page is not missing. We can find it.
3. Kyle walks you through setting up your Privacy Policy too.
4. That last statement is not true. WA saves your place...your Lessons. If you click the green or black tab, you will be taken to where you left off.

Now, click Site Rubix.
Site Manager.
Do you see your website?
Click to LOG IN.
You don't need a login or password.

Start there...I'll be waiting for you.

Sign in to WA and click on the Green Certification menu item. It will return you to where you left off if you are checking the boxes at the end of the lesson.
