Checking your email is a must if you are getting constant traffic so you would have to answer questions from your readers.

If you are just checking your email to see if you have any sales then you are just wasting your time.

I used to check my email over and over again just to find a couple of referrals (which I can find here at WA) which was a total waste of time. The sales will come so keep your email for professionalism and a way to interact with your readers.
