Greetings WA Members,
When you're facing configuration of a web host account, it can seem as if you're reading a foreign language.
Here's what to do ANYTIME you're facing something you can't solve yourself. Why? You still have to learn how to configure your web hosting account wherever you're hosting your main domain. This is a very valuable skill because others will not want to learn how to do this. HINT: You can get paid doing this.
Customer support is set up to help you navigate through their service.
1) Bug customer support at your web host
2) Try not to sit in the dark too long -- consider using INSTANT CHAT
3) If a technical person at your web hosting can't help you, they may turn your problem over to the system administrator
4) Anything that doesn't make sense should be telling them that another server you're trying to access may be down for maintenance or upgrades ...or you may not have the correct WA nameservers listed.
A DNS Nameserver is a coded name
that points your domain and your web hosting (under that domain) to
the WA server so that the sever can communicate with your web host. This way,
you are able to complete FTP (file transfer protocol), or update files
on your web host's server.
Kyle & Carson have different nameservers set up for domains registered after July 8th, 2010. Check WA Blogging Tutorial for codes, please.
NOTE: If you get the "404 error code" some of us first saw when we were setting up the WA Blog & Funnel System in July, 2010., this can happen if you have conflicting nameservers pointing to various domains (so they told me at Hostgator), but I believe WA was setting up their new server.
What Hostgator did -- they pinged the WA server to verify whether or not it was connecting, and they checked my domain to see that it was pointing to the DNS Nameserves at WA. They checked all of my URL's to make sure everything agreed with what WA had.
Read on to find out what our WA member in this tutorial is trying to solve because many of you will face similar challenges when you first configure your web host account inside of your e-panel.
The only question I have, and I might be wrong, but shouldn't all new (domain) DNS values now be pointing to NS3.MYWAHOSTING.com and NS4.MYWAHOSTING.COM rather than NS1 and NS2 since the server upgrade in July?
I ended up in a right frazzle with this but all worked out in the end [lol]!
