Keywords play such an important role in your site. You first do a lot of analysis on which one to use and how well it should rank. However, if you are not using them properly on your site, then you are shooting yourself in the foot so to speak.
You do not want to stuff keywords on your page. You want to pick one to target and use it wisely on your page. Stuffing keywords will get your post marked by google and it will not get ranked. Your true goal is to write to your customer not to seo. So you use them where they make sense.
Here are some simple rules for Keywords and On-page Optimization:
- Use your keyword in the first paragraph of your post. Usually within the first 25 words.
- Use your keyword in the last paragraph of your post. Usually within the last 25 words.
- Try to use your keyword once or twice in the middle of your article where it would make sense.
You can use keyword density to help you determine if you have used your keywords enough. In the Rapid Writer here at Wealthy Affiliate, you can put your article in and it will tell you what your keyword density is.
Keyword density is the percentage of times your keyword appears in the text compared to all the other words in your article. A good keyword density would be about 2.3%.
So, now the question is "Where do you really place your keywords?"
Here is a list of places you should use your keywords:
- Title
- <H1>....<H6> tags
- 1st 25 words on post
- Last 25 words on post
- Bold your keywords at least once on your page
Now that we understand our keywords, we are going to move on to Sitemaps.
If there is any improvement you think needs to be made to this training I would say maybe add a relevant image on each page. However even if you do not think you would want to do that, your content is still written well enough to make this a great training resource as it stands now.
Great job!!!
