- Give context
Remember that all the pinner has without the description is an image without any context. Ask yourself some questions to help create that context for pinners.
- What does the image represent to you?
- How is your pin helpful to pinners?
- What do you want them to do?
Here is a cute image of a baby dress but without any context, pinners have no idea what size baby it will fit, so they are likely to ignore it. - Use a direct quote or testimonial
A direct quote from a post or a short testimonial can be effective. - Use the 'you' word
This makes people feel you’re talking directly to them and addressing their needs or problems. - Put yourself in their shoes
Give them engaging information and facts. - Collect good examples
Think about what makes you click on a pin and repin it. Watch how other people describe their pins and keep a file of good examples you can refer to. - Be creative
(It’s similar to writing engaging headlines - see my previous training on How to create Clickable Headlines)
Use adjectives. appeal to the senses, introduce some fun or humor and try to add your own personal touch.
