Writing a blog cost time and you want to reach the big public. When you consider that your post can easily be lost in the crowd, and that nobody really reads it, you might benefit from some useful tips.

This training is about the do's and the don't so people will stay and read your article.

Here are some tips to implement on your post.

1. Your website is not secure

Right after people come on your landing page, they see your URL telling them the website is not secure.

For now, it's just an i but Google is planning to use the triangle and Not secure text.

I agree with you about popups and music. Those can be super obnoxious.

And I know the "give us your e-mail" popup is recommended to start building a list, but is there a way to change the timing of that popup? Very often I'll just get started reading something on a website, and within 15-20 seconds an annoying popup interrupts my reading and destroys my train of thought. Very aggravating.

It's for this reason I haven't even tried adding a popup to my site yet. Of course, I have no traffic yet, either, so it wouldn't do any good, but, still . . .

And the music can be really objectionable, especially if your volume is up too loud. Yikes!

You have exit popup too, I vote for those. I have a little popup in the right down corner from leadsleap/ popupexpert on my workathome website, works perfectly, doesn't interfere at all, and an exit popup from yeloni plugin

Exit popups aren't nearly as aggravating as the one that interferes with your reading, for sure. Thanks for the info on leadsleap/popupexpert.

Totally awesome advice as ever Loes.
I love that you tell us to put ourselves into the post, with our own anecdotes. This will happen quite naturally when you become more confident, so it’s always wise to go back to old posts to see where they can be improved.
With Grace and Gratitude

Really good points on writing a blog your visitors will actually read. When I'm on a website with a whole page of writing & nothing else, I don't stay long. The same goes for websites with several spelling & grammar errors or lots of advertisements. I agree with you about music on a website. Let your reader choose if they want to listen to it.

The other day, I had quite some tabs open, and suddenly, some guy began to talk, and I couldn't find where the heck it came from:((

What a great piece of writing, Loes :)

I think your mom's right about the eye having something. A great visual experience in any post is a great asset.

Thanks, Loes. Every point worth taking note of. Interesting point that you made about videos below the fold. I had never considered this before.

And your cat winked at me. :)
