7. Advertising your blog to death

Excessive promotion and eagerness to sell can kill your blog. Whether it is about promoting yourself or promoting a brand. Sparingly promotion is always the best advertisement. Don't overdue. You've probably visited other websites full of self promotion, you really want to leave a website like that.

For an excess of popups, your visitor also flees.

8. Watch your Grammar

Wrongly formulated sentences and a bunch of spelling mistakes do not look trustful, and that really puts your reader off. So, use a spelling control program like Grammarly to help you.

9. Not mobile friendly

Have you ever checked up your website on a mobile phone? I did, and I was horrified.

Where was my menu? I was totally lost on my own website!

Make your website mobile friendly

10. Share on. Get your blog out there.

Make use of:

Social Media:

SEO: Optimize your blog with long tail low hanging fruit keywords so that when people search for it, they will find your blog post.

Guest blogs: Ask if you can write guest blogs on other sites, and it's quite normal you may leave your own website link on your guest blog.

E-mail newsletter: Keep your followers occupied with interesting updates

Write weekly: When people love your writing, they will come back for more to take a look at your blog.

And most important, enjoy and love writing, your visitors can feel that!

Have fun blogging!

Totally awesome advice as ever Loes.
I love that you tell us to put ourselves into the post, with our own anecdotes. This will happen quite naturally when you become more confident, so it’s always wise to go back to old posts to see where they can be improved.
With Grace and Gratitude

Really good points on writing a blog your visitors will actually read. When I'm on a website with a whole page of writing & nothing else, I don't stay long. The same goes for websites with several spelling & grammar errors or lots of advertisements. I agree with you about music on a website. Let your reader choose if they want to listen to it.

The other day, I had quite some tabs open, and suddenly, some guy began to talk, and I couldn't find where the heck it came from:((

What a great piece of writing, Loes :)

I think your mom's right about the eye having something. A great visual experience in any post is a great asset.

Thanks, Loes. Every point worth taking note of. Interesting point that you made about videos below the fold. I had never considered this before.

And your cat winked at me. :)
