The Wordpress Uploader

The Wordpress Uploader is by far the easiest way to upload something to your website. You actually use the uploader every time that you add a new image to a blog post or page. But did you know you can also upload other file types such as pdf's and zip files?

It's a very easy way to add something quickly to your website without flapping about with file managers and other FTP programs. The only disadvantage is that you lose the ability to store your files in the same place, such as a downloads folder. So if you can live with that, the Wordpress Uploader is the tool to use!

Here's How:

From the Dashboard of your Wordpress blog, choose 'Media' from the sidebar and click 'Add New'.

You will see the following page:

It's pretty easy from here, right? Just drag your PDF onto the drop zone or click 'Select Files'.

Now just copy the file's location anywhere you want it, like in an email or on a blog post. If you copy and paste that link into your web browser you will view/download the PDF that we've uploaded. Here's the one I've done.

As I mentioned above, this is the easiest way to upload a file. It's really fast, but if you'd like some more control over where that file goes, turn over the page...

That's such a helpful tutorial mhamilt, so clear and to the point. I've bookmarked it and am looking forward to using. Also looking forward to the zippy follow up. Thanks for taking the time to create and share this! Paula.
