Well...here it is! My first training from a Newbie to the Newbies! Let’s talk about SEO Keywords and Alt Text. Yep, we’re doing that today. Today, you're going to learn from my mistakes.

Okay. We all know about keywords, right? We know the importance of keywords, and we know keywords (and content) are king! It’s being pounded into your head, right? You’ve heard about it many times in your training and probably skimmed right by it.Tired of seeing or hearing about it? TOO BAD!

I tend to procrastinate in some areas of my life. In my Wealthy Affiliate life…I procrastinate adding keywords to my Alt Text. Why? Because all I want to do is get my content tight, get my graphics in there, and move on. I’ve got a ton of ideas… so I’ve got to keep moving, people! :)

But you know what happens? I forget to go back and add “keyword rich” text to the Alt Text section. So what am I doing today? Going through every stinking post and page reviewing and (or) completing my D*MN Alt Text. DANG IT!I don’t have time for this!!

BREATHE! Whew…

Did you catch your breathe? Ready to move on? Let's go.

Hi Sadie. You're welcome! I love sharing ideas. I knew it was stuff we already know, but sometimes you just gotta see it again. What do they say? It takes like a bazillion times to hear something before it sticks? I gotta do better! LOL!

Sheila.

I'm so glad it was timely for you! I figured it like this...if it's time for me to figure it out and get focused, I can't be the only one. So glad you enjoyed the article. It was fun to put together.

Cheers!

Sheila - I did that exact same thing a couple of weeks ago! I had to go back through all of my posts and do that! I forgot the last 3 articles and need to go do them too!

See? That's what I mean. I hate back-tracking!! In my personal life, I've always been that person to start a bunch of projects - then never finish them. In my work world - I'm just the opposite. Then it dawned on me: This IS my work world, so what the heck?

HAhahAhahHAHAhaha...Sheila, you are crackin' me up!:))
I guess I got a lotta stinking posts to revisit, too;))
I like your style!!
Plus, you make good sense, thank you.

I need to continue this conversation, because as a newbie, I have to know exactly where I stand with the keyword usage.

Here is what has been drummed into my head:
3 keyword placings in the article, no matter the length.
This is:

In the title.
In the first 140 characters (and as near to the beginning of your post as you can).
In the concluding paragraph.

Two words that raise the hair on my head are "keyword stuffing".

I DO agree with all the Alt text placings.

So maybe I'm paranoid, but I think we need to converse right now so we can be All-Star point guards, and distribute this ball properly! LOL:)
Also please let's get to the bottom of what IS, and what ISN'T keyword stuffing...'cause I'd rather do some b-ball net stuffing:)

GOOD article, Sheila - much appreciated!:)

Funny!! :) I, too, quiver at the phrase "key word stuffing". I like my stuffing with turkey.

You dunked this ball successfully! Keyword in the title, within the first 140 characters, and in the last paragraph to tie it all together.

With the crap-ton of research I've done, the 1% rule of keyword usage seems to be standard. And at least 1 to 2 graphics with alt tags.

I'm paranoid too, but when I research keywords from other successful sites and bloggers, they use keywords way more than I do. They're successful so they must be doing something right. However, there is such a thing as overkill - and I think it's all a "delicate balance".

I'm glad you enjoyed the training. I'm a funny gal...at least I think so. But, my husband doesn't - at times he finds my quirky humor quite annoying. LOL!!

You is a funny bunny!:))
Now you've made me hungry 'cause I want to dunk my turkey drumstick in some gravy!

Your research sharing, and standards are good, Sheila.

Gotta tell you a couple of responses you gave on this page that I identified (and howled) with!:

'Don't we love to re-read our back posts - don't they make us PROUD!? Yeah Baby!:)' LOL lol LOL

And the response you gave about using your 'snappy, short story' knack to overcome your writers block! The same thing happened to me! I have a very serious niche, and somehow I started injecting humor into my writing. Plus the great suggestion from Kyle, on putting your own, honest personality into your posts.
I'm basically shy - not as shy as YOU are, gal - HAhaHAhahAhah!!,
and stumbling upon this natural way of writing for me, it gave me confidence and helped the writers block immensely:)

So we both like our stuffing with turkey & quirky;)

You said it Mr. Sometimes I get joy going back and reading my posts. I'm like..."who wrote that?" LOL! I gotta admit...I never knew writing like this would be so enjoyable, but it is. Writing literally brings out the kid in me.

As a matter of fact, I'm entering a few writing contests. I have a few funny stories I just have to share. My favorite short story is one I call "Two Peas in a Pod" about the day in the life of a humdrum man living in a pod-like mobile home community. It still makes me laugh!

Like I said...the world is too serious. It's my duty to lighten it up!
